Summary

  • Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 focuses on cars, causing frustration among fans due to their power.
  • Some players are unhappy with the overpowered vehicle mods.
  • Epic Games may release patches for balance in the future.

Fortnite is always changing with every new season, but the most recent "meta" this season is based around the new heavily upgraded supercars, which has left a lot of fans frustrated due to how powerful they can be. Chapter 5 Season 3, the newest season in the Fortnite battle royale mode, saw the introduction of various new features and items, but the new vehicles are changing things substantially.

Given the fact that much of Chapter 5 Season 3's marketing and teases have involved cars or other vehicles in some capacity, it may come as no surprise that the new season has a focus on vehicle combat. Especially with its emphasis on the "wasteland" vibes with the current Fallout collaboration, the game is channeling a bit of Mad Max energy to change things up a bit this time around.

Unfortunately, though, the drastic change in focus this season has caused some players to grow frustrated, as some took to Reddit to complain about the new vehicle mods in Fortnite making it a less-than-stellar experience for some. One user in the r/FortniteBR subreddit by the name of taroxii wondered whether developer Epic Games actually tested the vehicle mods before implementing them, accompanying their post with a video showing off one of the modded cars getting several kills back-to-back.

Players Take Issue With Fortnite's New Vehicle Mods

Users in the comments tended to agree with the original poster, stating that being effectively killed in one hit from full health is no fun, while others stated that it's a lot more fun when they are the ones driving the car. Of course, the more "overpowered" cars are only available if players eliminate one of the many NPC bosses that exist on the Fortnite island, so it is not as if everyone in the game will have access to them by default.

However, Fortnite has been full of various vehicles for a while now, with several types of cars and bikes already available in the battle royale mode, but it also has a whole roster of unlockable vehicles for the newer Rocket Racing mode. Vehicle mods are also not necessarily new additions either, as items like the cowcatcher give players the ability to deal massive damage by running into them, but Epic has hugely expanded upon them for this season.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 just began earlier this week, so it still has plenty of time to win over skeptical players, and some even speculate that Epic Games will release patches to make things a bit more balanced. Despite frustrations from some, Fortnite still enjoys massive player numbers due in part to its frequent collaborations with pop culture, with the Fallout franchise being this season's big crossover.
