2024 has been a strong year for Fortnite, as the increasingly popular battle royale has featured some of its biggest crossovers yet. Since its first year, Fortnite has become a juggernaut in the industry, and 2024 was further proof of why it has amassed such a huge following. Now, with its New Year's event underway, it's the perfect time to jump into Fortnite, as Epic Games already has plenty of plans in store to kick off 2025 with a bang.
Since December 20, Fortnite has been hosting its annual Winterfest event. Each year during the holidays, Winterfest brings plenty of great in-game rewards and surprises, and players will have until January 7 to experience everything the festive event has to offer. Even better, though, Fortnite is also in the midst of not one, but two, big New Year's Eve events, giving players plenty of ways to celebrate the arrival of a brand-new year. The two concurrent events celebrating the launch of 2025 present the perfect chance for longtime players, newcomers, and those who haven't played in a while to start the new year enjoying a game filled with events.
Fortnite Select Styles Require a Crucial Change
Players are not happy with some aspects of Fortnite's alternative styles and point out what needs to be changed to improve quality of life.
Fortnite's New Year's Events Are Underway
- Times Square Island
- Battle Royale hourly ball drop and fireworks
While the Battle Royale event obviously takes place in Fortnite's most notable mode, Times Square Island can be accessed via Creative mode. Both options offer players a fun way to experience New Year's, making it the perfect event for a diverse reach of player preferences. Fortnite's New Year's event also brings the game's community together, making it a celebration all around the world.
Times Square Island Features
- Mini-games
- Quests
- Custom accessories
- NYE Fireworks show
From quests to celebratory accessories, Times Square Island is the perfect in-game location to revel in New Year's excitement. On top of that, there are mini-games that players can enjoy. These games include options like Prop Hunt, Racing, and Parkour. Last, but definitely not least, no New Year's party would be complete without a fireworks display, which will also be present on the Creative Island.
The code for Times Square Island is 7054-0632-3368.
Battle Royale With a New Year's Twist
For players who prefer the classic Battle Royale mode, an hourly celebration can be expected in the middle of matches. During a match, if a player is alive when the ball drop triggers, all players will be hit with a Boogie Bomb, turning the map into a full-blown dance floor. While this is happening, players will be unable to attack one another, offering a brief moment for everyone to enjoy the moment together.
On December 12, Fortnite also added LEGO Fortnite Brick Life, bringing a brand-new social roleplay mode to the game.
Fortnite Already Has Big Plans for 2025
As of now, a lot of Fortnite's plans for 2025 remain under wraps, but there is a big crossover waiting on the horizon. The first battle pass for Chapter 6 features Godzilla as the final unlockable skin, and it will finally become available on January 17. With further rumors of a potential King Kong collaboration, Godzilla could potentially merely be the first member of the MonsterVerse to be scheduled for an appearance. Of course, Epic Games has yet to confirm a King Kong crossover, but the impending arrival of Godzilla is exciting enough. Lobbies filled with one of pop culture's most iconic monsters will be exciting to see, and it's a great way to start the year. As 2025 continues, it's practically a given that Fortnite will have plenty more exciting collaborations and events in store for players, continuing the game's impressive evolution.
