Fortnite and its many collaborations have helped the game continue to be one of the biggest hits in the industry. These high-profile crossovers keep players around, and the arrival of Mortal Kombat characters has been one of many iconic gaming franchises added to the battle royale. Fortnite has brought a fun group of Mortal Kombat characters to players, and it could simply be the start of a long-running team-up.
Over the years, gaming heavyweights like God of War's Kratos and Halo's Master Chief have entered the battlefield, and Mortal Kombat is a worthy addition to Fortnite's list of video game crossovers. Fortnite's Mortal Kombat skins are an exciting addition for lovers of the fighting genre, and because of the latter's impressive character roster, more could easily be on the way, if there is demand for them.

Fortnite Has Potentially Opened the Mortal Kombat Floodgates
Every Mortal Kombat Character Available in Fortnite
- Sub-Zero
- Scorpion
- Raiden
- Kitana
This first wave of Mortal Kombat characters brings some of the franchise's most notable names front and center in Fortnite, but this is merely the tip of the iceberg. The fighting game series has over three decades of gaming history under its belt, and in that time, some truly iconic characters have been brought to life.
Mortal Kombat Characters That Are Perfect for a Fortnite Crossover
- Johnny Cage
- Baraka
- Sonya Blade
- Mileena
- Liu Kang
- Shao Khan
- Noob Saibot
There are even more names beyond the above list that could be just as likely to be featured in Fortnite, but this collection is some of the most popular in the series. Now that the likes of Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kitana, and Scorpion are part of the battle royale title's continuously growing lineup, there's no telling what other gaming icons will be added next.
Fortnite is no stranger to multiple crossovers with the same brand, either. Star Wars and Marvel are just a few of the pop culture hits that have had the pleasure of being featured in Fortnite a number of times. Because of Mortal Kombat's name recognition and robust character offerings, it wouldn't be surprising if Epic Games chose to bring more crossovers to life down the road.
A leaker known as ShpeshalNick recently claimed on the XboxEra podcast that more Mortal Kombat characters are on the way, but these are merely rumors at the moment. Until Epic Games officially confirms something, these claims should be taken with a grain of salt.
2025 is Bringing Mortal Kombat Fans Extra Content Outside the Games
The Mortal Kombat and Fortnite collaboration isn't the only piece of extra content that fans of the fighting franchise can look forward to this year. Mortal Kombat 2, the second entry in the current live-action movie series, is set to hit theaters on October 24, 2025. While many fans would like an update from developer NetherRealm Studios about a new DLC for Mortal Kombat 1, the Fortnite collaboration and upcoming film are at least still offering Mortal Kombat lovers something to look forward to. MK1 brought a bold new timeline reboot forth, and it would be interesting to see if Fortnite played around with that shake-up a bit with any future crossovers. Only time will tell, but there is a treasure trove of content and lore to showcase.
Right now, the four Mortal Kombat characters that have recently gotten the spotlight in Fortnite have been exciting additions for a lot of gamers. Fortnite undoubtedly has a lot of major crossovers planned for the rest of the year, and while more Mortal Kombat characters may not be on that list, it seems very likely that the fighting franchise will be revisited sometime in the future.
