Recent leaks suggest that Fortnite might get a crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soon. Epic’s massively successful online battle royale shooter has had its share of guest appearances over the years, with popular characters from other video games, movies, and TV shows being added as playable skins on a semi-regular basis. Some of the most recent Fortnite crossover skins were WWE superstars Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair and Star Wars heroine Ahsoka Tano, all of whom were added as part of the recent Chapter 4.

Another franchise that’s seen plenty of crossovers is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The pizza-loving, crime-busting Heroes in a Half-Shell have teamed up with countless other characters across comics, animated movies, and even video games. For example, playable skins based on the Turtles were introduced to Street Fighter 6 earlier this month, though many players complained that these alternate costumes were too expensive. A few weeks later, Fall Guys released its own TMNT alternate skins to commemorate the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, but they are only available for a limited time.

Just as this collaboration is about to expire, a new one could soon begin as suggested by a pair of notable Fortnite leakers. Twitter user Sam recently revealed that there is a hidden file codenamed “FungusNinja” that simplifies to “MutantNinja,” a possible reference to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Sam admits that most of these secret file names don’t amount to much, but they do point out that Fortnite’s Anakin Skywalker skin was preceded by one aptly labeled “PlotTwist.”

Additionally, Sam points out that a sewer manhole cover was making strange sounds in Slappy Shores before an in-game Fortnite pizza shop with an arcade machine in it was added nearby, there is an upcoming augment labeled “Ninja Training,” and a recently added shop background looks suspiciously like the ooze that famously mutated the Turtles into the anthropomorphic heroes they are today. Another Fortnite leaker by the handle of iFireMonkey supports some of Sam’s information, namely that the supposed “FugusNinja” file is only 7 MB.

Fortnite’s crossover updates typically coincide with a big event regarding the featured property, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is undergoing something of a renaissance lately when it comes to video games. Aside from the aforementioned Mutant Mayhem and its many gaming-related promotions, last year’s TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge recently received a considerable wave of DLC this week that added new playable characters and gameplay modes. THQ Nordic also revealed its upcoming TMNT: The Last Ronin, a gritter God of War-inspired action title based on the IDW-published comic storyline of the same name.

Be it Injustice 2, Street Fighter 6, or even Fall Guys, the wise-cracking team of Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello have been known to show up unexpectedly as special guest character skins, and the brothers could be adding Fortnite to that list if these recent leaks are correct. Of course, nothing official has been announced by Epic Games yet, but there was a rumor that TMNT parent company Paramount signed an agreement with Epic to bring its properties into Fortnite last year.

Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
