Summary
- Fortnite will have a Twitch Drops event for a new Sith Rey skin style.
- The Sith Rey skin is expected to be released on May 30 or 31.
- The collaboration with Star Wars in Fortnite brings themed cosmetics to the game and may expand further.
According to new information from Fortnite dataminers, the previously leaked Sith Rey skin will apparently have an additional style that can only be obtained via Twitch Drops. Fortnite has collaborated with Star Wars several times over the past few years, which is why there are dozens, if not hundreds, of themed cosmetics released for the game's various modes. Star Wars collaborations in Fortnite are more likely to happen during the month of May, as it's the yearly celebration of the franchise.
This May the Fourth was particularly big for Star Wars fans in Fortnite, as players were surprised with a full-blown season, which lasted the entire month and will be live until June 7. Then, it'll come to an end with a bang with the Death Star Sabotage live event taking place on its final day at 2 PM ET. Before then, there is still some Fortnite content that gamers can explore, namely the Twitch Drop community goal and giveaway starting May 29.
Fortnite Announces Sabrina Carpenter Event
Epic Games reveals the next Fortnite Festival music event, and players will get to be the star of the show alongside Sabrina Carpenter.
Epic Games announced the Fortnite x Star Wars Twitch Drop event in the blog post focused on the release of update v35.20. The post revealed that players would be able to unlock themed sprays, emoticons, and loading screens, but that was it. However, according to a Twitch Drop leak uncovered by MoLentRo, a Fortnite concept creator, fans will be able to unlock an additional Apprentice style for the upcoming Sith Rey skin.
When Is Sith Rey Coming to Fortnite?
- Expected to release between May 30 and May 31
For those unfamiliar with this skin, Sith Rey is a Star Wars cosmetic rumored to hit the Item Shop soon. The current expected release date for Sith Rey is May 29 at 8 PM ET, so if the rumors are confirmed to be true, gamers will be able to rock this skin before the end of Galactic Battle. It is likely that the simpler Twitch Drop Star Wars rewards will become available first, and then Apprentice Rey will be given away last.
According to Blortzen, a known Fortnite leaker, the Rey skin's codename indicates that she was supposed to be part of the Galactic Battle Pass. However, she was replaced by Apprentice Evie, the skin that players receive as soon as they purchase the pass. The Galactic Battle Pass is a healthy mix of Fortnite characters and Star Wars characters. It is possible that Rey was put on the back burner to avoid overloading the pass with too many characters that are exclusive to the Star Wars franchise.
