Fortnite reportedly has some major changes in the works for the game's Ranked mode, with the battle royale's competitive gameplay set to see a huge overhaul. The massively popular shooter from Epic Games offers a wide variety of different ways to play the game, with each boasting its own unique twists on the battle royale's gameplay. Some Fortnite modes like "Zero Build" tweak individual aspects of the game, while modes like "Ballistic" transform the shooter into a different style of game. Now, one of Fortnite's most popular game modes has some big changes on the way.
Like many other popular shooters, Fortnite's Ranked mode is the premier destination for players looking to test their skills against others. Fortnite features Ranked ladders across multiple popular game modes, with players able to climb to Unreal in game modes like the previously mentioned Zero Build and "Fortnite Reload" among others. The battle royale also allows players to team up with friends in the Ranked queue, sharing the unranked game mode's ability to queue up alone, with a partner, or alongside a whole team. However, some major adjustments are now reportedly on the way for Ranked Fortnite.
Fortnite Delays Highly Anticipated Feature for the Third Time
A highly-anticipated feature set to come to a fan-favorite Fortnite game mode is being delayed for the third time since its announcement.
Fortnite Ranked 2.0 Is Reportedly Coming Soon
A new update shared by prominent Fortnite community member HYPEX is teasing a significant revamp coming to Fortnite's Ranked mode. The post does not share many details about what the change will involve, but HYPEX suggests that "Ranked 2.0" is in the works for the battle royale. The use of "2.0" in the post suggests that whatever change is coming to Fortnite's competitive game mode will likely be sizable, potentially changing anything from matchmaking to adding new ranks and more. HYPEX does not share a release window for the changes coming to Fortnite's Ranked mode.
The scope of Fortnite's "2.0" update to the game's Ranked mode is currently unknown, though it is likely to affect the Ranked ladder across its many different game modes. Fortnite currently boasts eight different tiers within its Ranked ladder, with players starting at the Bronze Rank and able to climb all the way up to Unreal at the pinnacle of competitive Fortnite. Similar to other competitive games, Unreal Tier also has a numbered ranking system within the division, allowing players to see exactly how they stack up against fellow Unreal-ranked players.
Fortnite's new Ranked updates come as the battle royale has seen plenty of new content for players with its newest season. Chapter 6 Season 4 officially kicked off at the start of August, bringing a new Battle Pass coupled with a Halo crossover skin of a UNSC Spartan. Season 4 has also brought a variety of other crossovers to the game, including Power Rangers, One Punch Man, and recently adding Beavis and Butthead among others. Fortnite's big Ranked changes should look to freshen up the battle royale's most competitive game mode.
