KPop Demon Hunters practically came out of nowhere a few months ago, and even though it had a limited marketing campaign, it somehow managed to become Netflix's most successful original program of all time. The Sony Pictures Animation-produced movie received over 266 million views worldwide, and it became the first-ever Netflix film to earn a number one spot at the U.S. Box office, surpassing even Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. KPop Demon Hunters' catchy soundtrack also ended up being one of the most popular film OSTs of all time, as four of the songs from the movie charted in the top 10 on the Billboard Top 100.
Given how successful KPop Demon Hunters has been, it's only a matter of time until Netflix starts to take advantage of its popularity with cross-promotional marketing campaigns. Some recent rumors, in fact, seem to suggest that the company is already gearing up for a Fortnite collaboration. A few days ago, multiple Fortnite insiders claimed that some content themed around KPop Demon Hunters would be added to the game in its current season. If this is true, this means that players may be able to play as the Huntr/x girls in Fortnite as early as November 1, which is when the latest season of the game will end.
Fortnite May Be the First of Many Games to Get a KPop Demon Hunters Collab
Fortnite has collaborated with virtually every pop culture franchise in existence, so it supposedly getting a KPop Demon Hunters crossover isn't that surprising. To take things a step further, it would be even less surprising if several other video games received collabs themed around the film in the future, as well.
If KPop Demon Hunters' video game adaptations are set to blossom, it would make sense for Netflix to capitalize on this by introducing more gamers to the film with relevant collaborations.
KPop Demon Hunters Skins Wouldn't Look Out of Place At All in Overwatch 2
One video game that Netflix can bring KPop Demon Hunters-themed content to, aside from Fortnite, is Overwatch 2.Since Overwatch's hero roster is fairly diverse, it can perfectly accommodate a broad range of skins featuring characters from other franchises. On top of this, the members of Huntr/x and the Saja Boys already look like video game characters, so doing a collab like this would be a no-brainer.
A KPop Demon Hunters Collab Could Look Similar to Overwatch 2's Recent Persona 5 Crossover
In order to see what a potential Overwatch 2 x KPop Demon Hunters crossover event could look like, fans need to look no further than the recent Persona 5 collab that was added to the game. As part of Overwatch 2's ongoing 18th season, Blizzard released skins for five of the game's heroes, which were inspired by the Phantom Thieves of Hearts from Persona 5.
Alongside these outfits, Blizzard also added some challenges to Overwatch 2 that players can complete to earn Persona 5-themed cosmetics and voice lines, as well as other associated content. The company even apparently hid secrets related to the event in some of the game's maps.
Overwatch 2's Next Competitive Signature Could Be Teasing a KPop Demon Hunters Collab
Blizzard has not outright confirmed that it's working on a KPop Demon Hunters collab for Overwatch 2 yet, but there is some evidence that may point towards its existence. Some players have discovered that the colors of the Competitive Signatures that can be obtained in Overwatch 2's limited-time Drive events are secretly linked to the next major collabs for the game.
The Competitive Signature that will be featured in Season 18's upcoming Drive is going to be purple.Since purple is one of the prominent colors that is used in KPop Demon Hunters, this signature may be hinting that Blizzard will add crossover skins inspired by the film to Overwatch 2 in Season 19, but it's hard to say for sure. In the meantime, such a crossover could be exciting.
