Players can embark through interesting new POIs in Fortnite as they journey for some new weapons and abilities that will assure them the Victory Royale. One such weapon is the Wings of Icarus, a mighty choice to bring into battle due to its ability to allow players to soar through the sky and fly with almost immeasurable freedom.

Chapter 5 Season 2 brings many exciting additions, and The Wings of Icarus is easily one of the best. Yet, players might ask how to get the Wings of Icarus, as they're not exactly posted across the map. Everyone will want to get their hands on this useful item, and they can find out just how to get it and how it works right here.

How To Get The Wings Of Icarus

The Wings of Icarus are an item of the Epic rarity that can be found within random chest loot. Specifically, players will be able to find the Wings of Icarus within Olympus Chests and Underworld Chests, located around Mount Olympus and The Underworld POIs respectively, as these season-related chests will guarantee a drop of the Wings of Icarus and sweet XP. Whilst they are not exactly common, keep opening chests and one will eventually pop out.

Another way for players to obtain the Wings of Icarus is by purchasing one from Skye, the NPC, who is located at Catcher's Cove, found north of Classy Courts. Or, from Marigold, at the Seaside Villa, southeast of Snooty Steppes. Skye and Marigold will sell a total of 2 Wings of Icarus, with each selling for 300 Gold.

Alternatively, players can locate players with the Wings of Icarus through the use of the Visual Sound Effects, where they will be able to locate a wings icon which indicates a player is flying nearby.

How To Use The Wings Of Icarus

Soar through the skies or Divebomb your enemies with these majestic wings. Beware: you can't fly forever; taking too much damage may lead to a crash landing.

Upon picking up a fresh set of the Wings of Icarus, players will have a charge of 300 that does not recharge over time, so players will need to find new Wings of Icarus if their charge runs out. It's also worth noting that if players are shot out of the sky, they will tumble to the ground, but not take fall damage, and running out of charge in the air will see them float towards the ground gently. Upon landing with 0 charges, the Wings of Icarus disappear. There is a visual reference for the damage to the wings based on their deterioration.

To use the wings, players simply need to equip them in their weapon slots, and then a set of wings will replace their Back Bling. With the Wings of Icarus equipped, players can hit R2/Left-Click to Take Flight, which will have them burst into the air to fly with their winds expanded.

Whilst in the air, players have the option to commit to other moves:

Boost (Left-Click/Left-Shift/L3/R2) – Use more Wings of Icarus charge to fly faster and further
Dive Bomb (Space/X/A) – Barrel towards the group and cause damage to players upon impact (players must be 80m above the air to activate)
Dodge Left (Q/L1) – Evade incoming attacks with a quick spin to the left
Dodge Right (R/R1) – Evade incoming attacks with a quick spin to the right
