Metal Gear x Fortnite hasn’t just brought about the covert ops sneaking agent Solid Snake, and a recent update to the game has added none other than Raiden, the newest recruit for FOXHOUND. Players can purchase Raiden in Fortnite, adding to the hopefully growing roster of Metal Gear characters in the game. Despite initial reception to Raiden being controversial with the release of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, he has since become a fan favorite thanks to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, rivaled only by Snake himself.

Players best be quick to get Raiden in Fortnite, as there’s no telling when he will disappear, or when he will come back. Raiden

1,800 V-Bucks

A new, VR-trained recruit to the reformed FOXHOUND unit.

It’s quite the steal to get Raiden in Fortnite, as players can access the Item Shop and purchase him for a mere 1,800 V-Bucks. For just 1,800 V-Bucks, players can get Raiden, his back bling, pickaxe, and item wrap. This is the usual price for a Legendary skin, and as Raiden is one of the rare few Gaming Legends skins, he gets to share that price, along with a few handy cosmetics. The character himself, Raiden comes with his iconic sneaking suit from Metal Gear Solid 2. Some fans might be disappointed that the character does not feature his cyborg outfit from both Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Raiden does come with two styles, with one being of his MGS2 suit without a mask, and his second, being a mask variant, featuring the scuba mask he wears in his introduction to the game. Without the cyborg enhancements, hopefully, this Raiden understands that winning a game of Fortnite is not like his VR missions.

High-Frequency Blade

Back Bling & Pickaxe

A sword that channels high-frequency energy to increase its cutting ability.

Coming with Raiden’s skin, players get access to the High-Frequency Blade, one of the best weapons in Metal Gear Solid 2. Whilst it’s not capable of cutting through objects and people in a single slice in Fortnite, it’s still a great pickaxe, and pairs great with Raiden, since it can be used as a Back Bling and pulled from its sheathe to use as a sharp pickaxe. It’s just a shame it’s not the sword used by Jack the Ripper himself from Revengeance.

Item Wrap

Adding more style to Raiden’s set, the Raiden Skin wrap is a fine addition, featuring a sleek design with a color scheme befitting the Metal Gear games. Near the barrel of the guns is a Japanese symbol, which features heavily in Metal Gear Solid 4. It’s a subtle design for a wrap and works perfectly with both Raiden and Solid Snake. The fact that it comes free with the skin is an added bonus.
