Every Fortnite season has its own quirks that allow it to stand out; Chapter 4 Season 3, also known as Fortnite WILDS, is all about surviving in the jungle. In the jungle, there's mud, Raptors, and even temple ruins that gamers can explore to try and get their hands on some rare loot.
It's possible to explore the depths of these ruins, but in order to gain access to their inner rooms, gamers have to offer a worthy item. This guide will show players the location of every temple in Fortnite and reveal how they can get inside.
Temple Locations
There are three temple ruins that players can explore on the Fortnite Battle Royale island. Three jungle POIs were added at the start of Chapter 4 Season 3, and there's a temple in each one of these locations. Each temple has a secret vault that can only be opened if the player hands over a worthy item. Here is where gamers can find the temple ruins:
- Northern Ruins: the Northern Ruins are located northeast of Shady Stilts.
- Hidden Ruins: the Hidden Ruins are northwest of Creeky Compound, in a structure below a cliff.
- Rumble Ruins: the Rumble Ruins are on the bottom floor of the large Rumble Ruins temple.
How to Open Temple Vaults
While exploring temple ruins, players will eventually stumble across a door with a mechanism that only allows it to open if a worthy item is delivered and sacrificed. At first, gamers might have a hard time figuring out what might be considered a worthy item, but there's an indicator that points towards the solution to this riddle.
The door will emit a cloud of smoke with a bright hue, and the color of the fumes corresponds to the rarity of the item that is required to open the door. Depending on the temple ruin that the player visits, the smoke will either be blue, purple, or white. Alternatively, players can hand in an item a higher-rarity item.
Exotic items can also be used to open temple vaults.
Are Temple Vaults Worth Opening?
Since players have to allow a high-rarity item to be consumed in order to open a temple vault, doing this might not always be worth it.
Rare rarity weapons are considerably easier to acquire, but Epic, Legendary, and Mythic weapons are quite difficult to come across. However, players might find a high-rarity item that they're not fond of and, in this case, sacrificing it to open a temple will prevent it from being wasted and also give them an opportunity to find a weapon that they prefer using instead.
Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
