In Fortnite, it's important to communicate with one's squad, especially when there are enemies nearby. To let a teammate know that an enemy is around, gamers will need to mark them, and they can do this by pinging near their location, or they can also mark them.
This guide will show players how they can mark their enemies in Fortnite so they can be aware of their whereabouts for a brief period of time; knowing how to do this will be particularly useful when completing a Week 8 quest, which requires players to mark an enemy player, or a character, a total of five times.
Reality Augments
Reality Augments were introduced to Fortnite not long ago - they've only been around since the start of Chapter 4 Season 1. This feature allows gamers to activate perks that last until the end of the match. There are two Reality Augments in particular that grant players the ability to mark enemies.
One of the Reality Augments that returned for Chapter 4 Season 2 was the Bloodhound Augment, which makes it so enemies hit by the player's rifle will be marked temporarily.
Additionally, update v24.30 added the Tracker's Armory Reality Augment, and it grants a Flare Gun as well as a Shadow Tracker Pistol. Gamers can mark other players with the Flare Gun by shooting it in a certain direction; the flare will then scan the area of enemies. And the Shadow Tracker Pistol works just like the Bloodhound Augment, so enemies only need to be hit with a bullet to be marked.
Specialist NPC
Each Fortnite NPC has its own services that it can provide players. Some will only sell goods, others are available for hire, and there are even specialist NPCs that have unique abilities.
One of the four specialists available on the island is the Scout Specialist, and every 45 seconds, this NPC will scout its surroundings and mark any chests or enemy players nearby.
The Scout Specialist can be found at Cold Cavern, and their services cost 250 gold bars.
Claiming A Location
There are certain areas of the battle royale island that can be claimed. Players can visit named locations and loot islands and claim them by standing near the flagpole (the Capture Point) and waiting until the meter is full.
Once a location has been claimed, loot will come out of the Capture Point, chests nearby will be highlighted, and any enemies in the area will be marked for a short period of time.
Fortnite is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
