Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 introduced three jungle POIs to the game. These locations are filled with vines, tall trees, and heavy foliage, so it can be difficult to tell where players are hidden. Several weapons were added at the start of the season, and the Thermal DMR is one of them.
The Thermal DMR is a useful weapon that players can take with them in order to detect enemy players that might be nearby. This guide will show Fortnite players how they can get their hands on a Thermal DMR and how to use it.
How to Find the Thermal DMR
Even though the Thermal DMR is particularly useful in the Chapter 4 Season 3 jungle POIs, it spawns just as frequently in other biomes as well; it can be found across the entire Battle Royale map.
In Chapter 4 Season 3, players can find Thermal DMR as floor loot, or they can also search any chests. At the moment, there are quite a few rifles in the game, so the Thermal DMR doesn't appear as often as many might've expected. It's likely that players will come across the Flapjack Rifle or the Red-Eye Assault Rifle more often.
How Does the Thermal DMR Work?
The Thermal DMR was added to the Fortnite WILDS Season due to its thermal vision scope. It allows players to easily spot enemy players or wildlife in the distance, even if they're hidden in the foliage.
To detect any players that might be around, gamers only have to ADS as they would normally with any other weapon; this will activate the weapon's thermal vision scope and enemies will appear highlighted. This weapon can be used as the DMR; players can toggle its thermal vision on and off at any time.
The Thermal DMR's thermal scope displays opponents and wildlife in a bright color due to the body heat they emit, but if gamers point in the direction of a teammate, they won't appear highlighted at all. This prevents gamers from becoming alert by mistakenly taking their teammates for enemies.
How To Avoid Detection
When it comes to being targeted by a Thermal DMR, dealing with it can be a bit of a pain. Players might want to walk by an area fully undetected without fearing a player lurking with a Thermal DMR. Thankfully, it's possible to appear on a Thermal DMR's thermal scope and remain unseen.
Players can camouflage themselves with mud in the jungle biomes, and this prevents the Thermal DMR from capturing their body heat and alerting an opponent player.
Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
