Players had been eagerly awaiting the release of companions for months, and it was finally during The Simpsons mini-season that Fortnite introduced sidekicks. The first sidekick to become available was Peels, as part of the Battle Pass, but since the, several have been added to the Item Shop.
Fortnite: All Peely Skins
Peely has become one of the most iconic mascots in Fortnite, and his library of incredible banana skins speaks for themselves.
Bonesy was one of the first sidekicks to be sold in the Item Shop, and some players won't even have to purchase it to able to have him Bonesy with them in battle. This guide tells players who is eligible to receive Bonesy for free in Fortnite and what versions of him they will get access to.
How to Get Bonesy for Free in Fortnite
Who Is Eligible to Receive a Free Bonesy Sidekick?
Certain players will receive a free Bonesy sidekick when they next log into Fortnite. However, only a small percentage of players will be eligible for this freebie.
Bonesy was first introduced to Fortnite in Chapter 1 Season 6, as a pet. Pets are animated animals and creatures that can be used as back bling. There are quite a few pets in Fortnite, but none of them have been released recently - the idea seems to have been put on the back burner.
Bonesy was included in the Season 6 Battle Pass, and players who unlocked him then will receive one Bonesy sidekick in Fortnite. Regardless of the Bonesy back bling styles they unlocked at the time, they will have access to all Bonesy sidekick customization options.
Players can complete Sidekick Quests and unlock outfits and emotes for Bonesy, but after customizing their free Bonesy and locking in its appearance, they would have to purchase more Bonesy sidekicks in the Item Shop in order to get Bonesy with a different look, as sidekicks are only customizable once.
Bonesy costs 1,200 V-Bucks in the Item Shop, so this is a great deal for Chapter 1 players. Even though the back bling and the sidekick are technically the same animal, players can equip both Bonesy characters at the same time.
