A new Fortnite season has finally dropped and along with it came awesome new weapons to try out. With the start of another Fortnite chapter, the lore has deepened yet again, and now it's bringing on characters that most wouldn't expect, like Geralt of Rivia and Doom Slayer.
The trailer for this season shows Geralt controlling one of the latest additions to the game: the Shockwave Hammer. This giant hammer will hit enemies hard and send them flying somewhere. It can be used in several different ways, and it's a lot of fun. This guide will help players get their hands on the Shockwave Hammer in Fortnite.
Where To Find The Shockwave Hammer
The Shockwave Hammer can spawn anywhere on the map. The only way to guarantee that it will spawn is to open an Oathbound Chest.
Oathbound Chests are also a new type of chest that's been added to the game. They can be found on the parts of the map covered with yellow grass. Although the chests are pretty well distributed among the named locations and landmarks of these areas, they can be most easily found at The Citadel; this POI has seven possible Oathbound Chest locations.
Inside Oathbound Chests, players can find a random weapon, a throwable item, Chug Splash, ammo, and most importantly, a Shockwave Hammer. In these places with a lot of Oathbound Chest spawns, it's important to be careful since other players might also get their hands on one of these weapons quite easily.
The Ageless spawns at The Citadel, and he will also drop a Shockwave Hammer alongside his other loot when defeated. It can be pretty hard to take down this boss, but those that really need to get one of the hammers and are having trouble finding one might have to resort to this method.
How To Use The Shockwave Hammer
The Shockwave Hammer only has three options when equipped. Here is a list of these attacks and what they do:
- Slam - slam will make the hammer hit the ground when pressed. This deals a powerful amount of damage in just one hit.
- Bounce - holding down the bounce button can activate the hammer's Shockwave mechanic. It'll send the player and anyone nearby flying - this can be great for mobility and switching position mid-combat. It also causes damage when hitting the floor before bouncing away.
- Bounce once - tapping the bounce button will make it so the player hits the floor with the hammer once before bouncing somewhere else
Fortnite is available on mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
