Bugs appeared all over the Fortnite map at the start of Chapter 6 Season 4, and it seems that they're here to stay until the end of the season. These creatures can be a nuance not only to players but the NPCs that inhabit the Battle Royale island as well.
Fortnite: O.X.R. Ranks, Explained
O.X.R. Ranks in Chapter 6 Season 4 test how awesome a player can get in a Battle Royale match. Here's how to increase it and the rewards to claim.
Each match, two outposts will be infested with bugs, and that is where they will remain until players go there and fight them off. As part of the seasonal Kickstart Quests, players are actually tasked with visiting an infested outpost and defending it from the horde of swarmers and bombers. This guide will show players how to take down these vile creatures and defend an outpost in Fortnite.
How to Find an Infested Outpost in Fortnite
Infested Outpost Locations in Fortnite
In Fortnite, there are three possible infested outpost locations:
- Northwest of Supernova Academy
- North of Canyon Crossing
- Northwest of Outpost Enclave and west of Kappa Kappa Factory
-
Only two of these locations will actually be swarmed with bugs, and to figure out which ones they can head to in order to complete this quest, gamers will have to open their map and look for the Infested Outpost marker, which looks like this:

How to Defend the Outpost from Bug Invasions in Fortnite
In order to successfully defend an outpost from a bug invansion in Fortnite, players must defeat a total of 20 bugs. Players can take out any of the bugs to achieve this, both swarmers and bombers, but the fastest way to do it is to focus on the swarmers, the smaller bugs.
Swarmers are a one-hit kill with most weapons in Fortnite, while bombers have a decent amount of HP and can burrow their underground to hide from the player. Nevertheless, bombers can be quite annoying as they will chuck projectiles at the players, but they are relatively easy to avoid and weapons such as a Swarmstriker will get rid of them within a few shots.
-
Ultimately, it is up to the player to decide which bugs they prefer to take out while clearing an infested outpost. Once 20 bugs have been eliminated, those that remained will disappear and a Rift Pod riddled with rewards will fall from the sky.
