It seems that some players are tired of Godzilla's presence in matches, and are celebrating the fact that fewer players will have the opportunity to play as the creature, but others have expressed disappointment since Godzilla has been a highlight of recent Fortnite matches for many people.

Godzilla Gets Nerfed in Fortnite

It's unclear what the motivation to lower Godzilla's spawn rate is, whether it's that not enough people have been playing as the character, or whether too many people are jumping at the opportunity when Godzilla's portal opens up during matches. It seems like the latter is a likelier possibility, considering how much damage can be done when playing as Godzilla. When taking control of the character, it's possible to rack up a high number of eliminations in a very short amount of time with little consequence if skilled enough, since being defeated as Godzilla doesn't actually cause the player to lose a match.

According to Fortnite sources such as HypeX and ShiinaBR, on January 17, Godzilla's spawn rate was about 40% before being bumped up to 100% by January 24. Settling at 60% may be a proper balance between these rates. Choosing to make Godzilla spawn less often seems like a satisfactory way to adjust the event without nerfing the actual gameplay so that characters can continue to enjoy Godzilla's overpowered qualities for as long as it's available.
