Summary

  • A new Twitter account called Jason Universe is following Fortnite, which could suggest a possible future cross over.
  • Players love the diverse content in Fortnite and are excited about future collaborations.
  • Fortnite fans will have to wait for more news regarding a potential Friday the 13th collaboration, as nothing has been confirmed.

Fortnite's latest collaboration may have already been revealed, with Jason from the legendary Friday the 13th franchise rumored to make an appearance. This new rumor stems from a new Friday the 13th-themed Twitter account, which is linked to Epic Games' official Fortnite account on the same platform.

While Fortnite offers fans of the battle royale genre a plethora of content, including satisfying gunplay and fluid movement, part of what makes Fortnite so popular and appealing is its willingness to collaborate with other franchises and properties. Players have the ability to use a wide range of iconic characters in-game, with skins and other cosmetics being a huge part of the Fortnite experience. Previous collaborations brought in video gaming legends like Master Chief from Halo and The Doomslayer from Doom into the world of Fortnite, with more exciting announcements and collaborations always around the corner. However, a new rumor suggests Fortnite may receive one of the nastiest, bloodiest, and most violent characters yet.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 approaches, and soon players will be able to see what causes this change - here's how to tune into the event.

A recently created Twitter account called Jason Universe appears to be dedicated to the iconic Friday the 13th franchise, which spans multiple films and, more recently, a multiplayer experience titled Friday the 13th: The Game. The account was activated in April earlier this year, with a link in the account's bio taking users to a website of the same name, welcoming fans to a "new era" from the original owners of the franchise. What makes this especially interesting is that this new account follows the official Twitter account for Epic Games' Fortnite.

Friday the 13th Collaboration Rumored for Fortnite

Multiple new interactive Friday the 13th projects are on the way as part of this new initiative, spanning entertainment, merchandise, and, of course, video games. “We’re excited to work with Victor Miller and Marc Toberoff on new projects we’ll announce in the coming months,” said Robert Barsamian, President of Horror, Inc., in a statement sent to IGN. While nothing has been confirmed, it would be cool to see Jason and other fan-favorite characters from the Friday the 13th series make their way into Fortnite, with the game already featuring several legendary horror icons. Players have previously been able to purchase Ripley and the Xenomorph in Fortnite. Other collaborations have also added Michael Meyers from Halloween to Fortnite's item shop, indicating Epic Games is willing to bring in violent and cold-blooded characters to the game.

Players are nearing the end of Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 2 update, which officially launched on March 8. This era of Fortnite wraps up later this summer on May 24, meaning players have a little over a week to complete this season's Battle Pass, which is based on Greek mythology. Recent additions like Rocket Racing, as well as the incredibly popular Fortnite OG event, help maintain interest in the game, providing players with something new to experience and enjoy. Since its initial release back in 2017, Epic Games has managed to turn Fortnite into one of the world's most popular video game experiences, continuing to turn up the excitement through various content updates and limited-time events.
