The bug infestation of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 continues, and part 2 of the story quests has unfolded with the Egg-Cellent Observations set. Players who are looking for each of these quests can find them below, along with how they can easily complete them to earn XP and be on their way for the next round of story quests that will release later in this bug-tastic season of Shock 'N Awesome.
Some players are reporting that the Egg-Cellent Observations quests are currently bugged and not showing. There is no known fix as of release, but see if you can complete the steps in order below.
Stage 1 — Destroy 3 Swarmer Nests to Thin Out the Swarm
How to Find and Destroy Swarmer Nests
The first stage of the Egg-Cellent Observations quest requires players to seek out 3 Swarmer Nests and destroy them. These nests can be found throughout the map, but their most common and assured spots are located within The Hive and Ranger's Ruin. The Swarmer Nests (pictured above) can be destroyed with anything, whether that's a Pickaxe, a Rocket Launcher, an Assault Rifle, or even the ramming speed of a car. These nests are noted for having blue bulbs sticking out of them, and hitting these bulbs will cause more damage to the nest until it eventually pops. Do be warned, as bugs can burst from the nests when provoked!
Stage 2 — Break Open 5 Hive Stashes to Find Traces of Swarm Energy
How to Find and Break Open Hive Stashes
Hive Stashes (pictured above) are noted for being Rare Chests that are currently sealed away within a large orange egg sack. Simply by interacting with the orange sack, players can grab the loot from within and claim this quest as completed. The Hive and Ranger's Ruin will have at least 2 Hive Stashes each, and there's others that are scattered around these POI in other bug dens. Players should try to drop to these locations from the Battle Bus, but even if another player has opened them, simply start a new round and try again.
Stage 3 — Tune 3 Sensors Near The Hive to Find Demonic Energy Sources
How to Find and Tune Sensors
Once players have completed stage 2, they will be tasked with heading to The Hive. This location will have 3 sensors that players can interact with, and these are all within the POI. Players can find these sensors by looking to the north, west, and south regions of The Hive. They are red, with panels, and emit a visual sonar icon to help players find them. Be sure to check out the minimap to look for the '!' That appears to indicate the exact location of the sensor.
Stage 4 — Collect 2 Tainted Eggs at The Hive
How to Find and Collect Tainted Eggs
This objective will still have players venture through The Hive, as once they have completed the step involving the sensors, they will then be tasked with collecting 2 Tainted Eggs. The Tainted Eggs can be found within the north and south regions of The Hive, and they are both hiding within the bug caverns. They're impossible to miss and cannot be destroyed, so simply locate the '!' On the minimap in The Hive area to approach and interact with the egg to pick it up.
Stage 5 — Bring the Tainted Eggs to Hope
Where to Find Hope in Chapter 6, Season 4
Once players have collected the 2 Tainted Eggs, it's time to head north east of The Hive to reach Supernova Academy. Players can then venture to the east basement area of Supernova Academy to find Hope and Agent Jones inside. Speaking with these NPCs will reward them with some dialogue, and the final step of this story quest.
Step 6 — Defeat a Bug Queen to Confirm Hope's Theory
How to Find and Defeat a Bug Queen
The final step for the 2nd set of story quests involves defeating a Bug Queen. Bug Queens spawn in specific areas on the map, but only 2 will be active at a time. Look at your map and find the tentacle icon to see where the active Bug Queens are. Regardless, the most common spots for the Bug Queens to spawn are at The Hive, Ranger's Ruin, Demon's Debris, and Dystopia City. The Bug Queens can then be summoned by destroying bugs in the area, along with destroying Swarmer Nests and Hive Stashes. After enough damage, the Bug Queen will spawn. This great bug has plenty of health, so the Bug Blaster comes in handy here to start chipping away at the creature's health to complete this quest.
Fortnite's next story quests, Prepare to Fight, will unlock on October 14, 2025.
