Summary
- Fortnite Galactic Battle will end soon after only 36 days, shorter than usual seasons.
- Downtime for the last update will start on May 29 at 4 AM ET, teasing the Death Star Sabotage event.
- Players can expect leaks and more with the upcoming update.
Fortnite Galactic Battle will be coming to an end soon, and Epic Games has just confirmed that downtime will begin on May 29 at 4 AM ET for the season's last update. Throughout the month of March, gamers have been enjoying a Star Wars-themed season on the Battle Royale island, and it's been hectic fun for most players. However, this is what has been dubbed a mini-season, so it won't be live for long compared to standard Fortnite seasons, which tend to last between two to three months; in total, the length of the Galactic Battle season is a mere 36 days.
With the end of the season fast approaching, gamers have started to wonder how the storyline of Galactic Battle will connect with the continuation of Chapter 6. The Story Quests available this Fortnite season were vague, to say the least, and didn't provide players with many answers regarding the appearance of the Empire on the island. Whether the story will come to a conclusion or not remains a mystery for now, but players might get some answers soon with the Death Star Sabotage live event coming to Fortnite on June 7.
Fortnite Threatening the Destruction of Dusty Depot
Epic Games teases the upcoming season of the Fortnite OG game mode with a statement regarding the quiet Dusty Depot named location.
The Death Star Sabotage event will be added to the game files with the next update, which has created even more anticipation for its release. Epic Games has at last confirmed when downtime will begin for the update, so gamers can prepare themselves for the patch. According to the official Fortnite Status account on Twitter, downtime for patch v35.20 will begin on May 29 at 4 AM ET. As always, matchmaking will be disabled shortly before downtime begins. Usually, matchmaking stops working about half an hour before to make sure that players aren't able to enter any Battle Royale matches that they wouldn't be able to finish. With this in mind, players can expect to be able to enter their last match at around 3:30 AM ET.
When Does Downtime for v35.20 Start in Fortnite?
- Thursday, May 29 at 4 AM ET
The live event isn't the only exciting part of this update. With major updates, especially closer to the end of a season, leaks are always bound to be even more interesting and bring in promising information regarding upcoming Fortnite skins, collabs, items, and quests.
Players who are interested in leaks can expect to learn more about Sith Rey cosmetics, the upcoming Sabrina Carpenter event, the Star Destroyer ship, and Chapter 6 Season 3, as well as Chapter 1 Season 4 of Fortnite OG. Friday will be a big day for Fortnite fans, so they'll want to make sure that they make some time this weekend to try out all the content coming to the game.
