The Christmas holiday is a great time for many gamers, as most get time off from school or work that they can dedicate to playing games. However, outages can be a serious problem during the holiday as well, with major outages impacting players, like Steam going down on Christmas Eve.

Fortnite is Down on Christmas Eve

Unfortunately, Christmas Eve has seen problems for gamers outside of Steam as well, as players are reporting that they can't access Fortnite. According to Down Detector, it looks like the game started getting widespread reports of being down starting at about 5 PM PT, reaching 25,000 reports at one point.

This outage has been acknowledged by Epic Games as of about 6 PM PT, which says that the game is a "major outage" specifically for logging in. According to Epic, the issue also extends to Rocket League and Fall Guys. The developers are currently working on a fix, and as of 7:04 PM PT, the developers warned that implementing the fix could end up kicking some players offline. If players are actively in the game, get kicked, and can't log back in, they should consider keeping watch on the Epic Games Status page to see when a fix is finally deployed and everything is back to normal.

Unfortunately, for many fans, this outage couldn't have come at a much worse time. In addition to cutting into Christmas gaming time, players have been eagerly awaiting the long-rumored addition of IShowSpeed to Fortnite. The bundle is available now, which includes two IShowSpeed skins, Speed Cam, two Emblems, Barrier Breaker emote, Speed's Triden, IShow's Speedboard, ISpeedStyle wrap, and Head Shot/Gas in the Truck Jam Track for 3,000 V-Bucks. Thankfully, players have until January 3 to buy it, but as many players have been waiting for this moment, it's frustrating to find the game to be unplayable.
