In a recent post on Reddit, nottdscoo shared an image of Fortnite's new Darth Jar Jar skin and expressed bewilderment over its XP requirement. While most cosmetics come to the Item Shop without any kind of limitations, Darth Jar Jar is different. In order to purchase the skin, players first need to earn over one million XP, which can be quite a grind. After earning all of that XP, players unlock the ability to buy Darth Jar Jar for 1,500 V-Bucks. Gamers can also choose to buy his accessories, though there is no bundle offering a discount for purchasing everything. While a large portion of the community was originally excited to see Darth Jar Jar make his way to the island, a lot of people have expressed disappointment about the current situation.

Fortnite Players Feel Darth Jar Jar Is Overpriced

In addition to launching Darth Jar Jar, Epic Games released a classic version of Jar Jar Binks in Fortnite on the same day. The standard version of Binks doesn't come with any kind of XP requirement, and the skin itself can be bundled with all the character's accessories for 2,000 V-Bucks. A lot of people questioned why Jar Jar Binks received two different skins, as it would have been simple to make Darth Jar Jar an edit style of the original design. Some people even stated that they wished Jar Jar Binks had been included in the battle pass instead of being released in the game's Item Shop.

This isn't the first time Epic Games has experimented with an XP requirement in the popular battle royale's Item Shop, as the recent re-release of Renegade Raider in Fortnite required players to earn XP before purchasing the skin. In the case of Renegade Raider, many fans didn't mind the requirement. As one of the game's oldest and rarest skins, a large portion of the community understood the desire to keep it somewhat exclusive by adding another hurdle. Furthermore, earning XP was a requirement to purchase Renegade Raider when it was first released several years prior. Despite a few recent hiccups, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Fortnite.
