Since the game's beginnings back in 2017, Fortnite has become as much of a stage for special crossovers as it has for a battle royale experience. Now boasting a variety of in-game modes and huge yearly events, Fortnite has showcased an impressive level of longevity with its approach to live-service content. While Fortnite may be one of the top dogs of the Battle Royale landscape, it certainly isn't the first, though.
Battle Royale can be a saturated genre, but Fortnite's ability to bring some of pop culture's biggest names and franchises to the game has given it a huge edge against the competition. Granted, other battle royale titles have had their fair share of crossovers, but Fortnite has taken it to daunting heights. However, there is one route developer Epic Games has yet to take with the title that seems forbidden. Fortnite has yet to collaborate directly with one of its many collaborators, and these uncharted waters could be the next step toward a massive in-game event.
Fortnite Players Have an Idea to Improve Godzilla
Fortnite fans take to social media to share their thoughts on how Epic Games could improve the way Godzilla functions in the popular battle royale.
Fortnite Collaborating With Another Battle Royale Title Could Set the Gaming World on Fire
Biggest Battle Royales Besides Fortnite
- PUBG
- Call of Duty: Warzone
- Apex Legends
PUBG and Fortnite doing a collab may ultimately be less likely, but Warzone and Apex Legends have their own unique spins on the genre that could be perfect for some exciting crossover content. Whether it be through Warzone adding a Jonesy skin or Fortnite featuring Apex Legends characters like Bloodhound and Ash, the potential for skins and cosmetics is huge.
Another possible route for such a crossover could be for Fortnite to introduce a limited-time game mode that brings maps from Apex Legends to the game via its own island codes. Locations like E-District and World's Edge would be exciting to see in Fortnite's stylized art aesthetic, as well as Apex Legends' character roster. A limited-time island where players can fight with a mixture of both Fortnite and Apex Legends weapons in the latter's signature three-player squad battle royale matches could be a huge hit.
Like Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends, and Warzone are all free-to-play titles.
Fortnite Joining Forces With Other Battle Royales May Not Be a Pipe Dream
It feels strange for heavy-hitters in the genre to join forces since they are such big competitors, but Fortnite's reign actually presents more opportunity than anything. One could argue that such a collaboration may only benefit whichever franchise Epic Games hypothetically chooses to partner with at this point. Fortnite's many confirmed and rumored crossovers keep the conversation surrounding the game alive, and a potential team-up with one of its biggest competitors could be a huge step forward for the genre as a whole.
Through the years, battle royale franchises crossing over into each other's territories has felt forbidden, but with the ever-changing landscape of the industry, joining forces may now be a stronger approach going forward. The Fortnite brand has grown past its initial concept, and it wouldn't be surprising if some competitors were curious about benefitting from the immense popularity.
Fortnite has yet to collaborate directly with one of its many collaborators, and these uncharted waters could be the next step toward a massive in-game event.
2025 is Off to a Big Start For Fortnite
Fortnite had a really strong presence in 2024, and this year is off to a powerful start, too. The introduction of Godzilla brings one of pop culture's most iconic monsters to the battle royale, setting the tone for what potentially waits for players down the road. If Epic Games chose to start the year off with such a massive event, then the rest of the year could be filled with great surprises.

Epic Games recently revealed that Tilted Towers will be returning to its Fortnite OG mode on January 31.
Of course, it remains to be seen what the rest of Fortnite's 2025 plans are, but the Godzilla event is a promising sign of more major collaborations. Teaming up with the likes of Apex Legends or Warzone may seem unlikely, but Fortnite's regular big-name partnerships demonstrate that nothing is actually impossible.
