Summary
- Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 requires players to reach level 150 to unlock bonus rewards, up from level 130 in the previous season.
- Marvel-themed skins and cosmetic items are up for grabs in the Battle Pass as players earn Battle Stars to unlock new rewards.
- Despite the increased level requirement, many players are not concerned, as the XP system in Fortnite should make it achievable.
With the launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 on August 16, Epic Games has increased the overall number of Battle Stars required to unlock the bonus rewards for this season's Battle Pass, meaning players now need to reach a higher level to unlock each reward. Fortnite players noticed the change shortly after the season's launch, but many believe the increase isn't much of an issue.
The newest Fortnite Battle Pass features a plethora of Marvel-themed skins for players to get their hands on, with even more cosmetic items up for grabs in the bonus rewards section. As players level up throughout the course of Chapter 5 Season 4, they'll unlock something known as Battle Stars. These stars are used to unlock new items from the Battle Pass, which must be completed before players can move on to the bonus rewards section.
Fortnite's Doctor Doom Seems to Have Decimated the Marvel Universe
Doctor Doom seems to have asserted his dominance in Fortnite by taking out many other famous Marvel characters and putting their remains on display.
In Fortnite's previous season, the bonus rewards section only required players to climb to level 130 to unlock all of the available cosmetic items and skins. However, according to Reddit user TimewornTinman, who made the discovery shortly after Chapter 5 Season 4 was released, players now need to be level 150 to unlock the extra seven pages of rewards. But as many members of the community quickly pointed out, the immense amount of XP that players receive per game will balance out the increased level requirement.
Fortnite Makes Big Changes to Chapter 5 Season 4 Bonus Rewards
When compared to Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3's bonus rewards, Season 4 requires players to earn even more Battle Stars. For the first page in Season 3, only 55 Battle Stars were required to unlock all of the section's cosmetic items. But the first bonus page for Season 4 requires a total of 65 Battle Stars, meaning players will need to reach level 113 to get their hands on all of page one's items.
Thankfully, there are various ways to level up fast in Fortnite, but the community doesn't think the extra Battle Stars are that big of an issue. Reddit user StarWarsFever noted that the amount of XP granted to the player in Season 3 was "insane," so if things remain the same this is a perfectly obtainable goal, even for the more casual players. Fellow user NAS210 agreed, saying Epic Games gave out a lot of XP last season, so it "shouldn't be too difficult."
Overall, players don't seem to be too concerned about the increased level requirement for this season's bonus rewards. But Chapter 5 Season 4 hasn't been completely without controversy, as the Fortnite community is outraged at a new quest that requires players to download the game on iOS devices. The only problem is, Fortnite is currently only available on iOS devices within the EU, preventing millions of fans from completing it.
