Players do not love how overpowered Captain America's shield is in Fortnite. The newest season of Fortnite comes with expected changes to weapons and gameplay balance in some areas. Part of what fans enjoy about Fortnite is being able to return after a season they have gotten used to, and learning the new difficulty curve. Although the core gameplay remains the same, changes like these give everyone something new to do.

One of the most largely anticipated changes for Chapter 5 Season 4 of Fortnite has been new Marvel collaborations. Marvel fans had fun with the Deadpool and Wolverine collaboration items, as well as the new meta that car combat introduced, but the new collaboration appeared like a healthy change of pace for anyone who got bored with those features. The array of new weapons seems like too much for some to handle, though.

Fortnite players think that Captain America's shield is overpowered, and they're annoyed by it. The new Marvel collaboration introduced this epic tiered item as a weapon, and those who are lucky enough to find Captain America's shield in Fortnite have been cleaning house. A video clip shared by user DamnHare shows off how powerful the item is, with the user barely having to worry about a recharge period, knocking down buildings and eliminating enemies in seconds. The shield's might is potentially more fearsome in Zero Build modes, where everyone has significantly less to hide behind.

Fortnite Players Think Captain America's Shield is Overpowered

Besides fighting back or running, there is not much for people to do about this problem. While the Fortnite team has issued balance changes mid-season before, many of the fans who are voicing their complaints just don't have hope that the shield will be altered. If it does happen to be nerfed, it raises the question of by how much. Because the weapon's aim is quite good at close range, players have a hard time avoiding it, and if the damage output gets tweaked, it might lower the incentive for players to use it at all.

This kind of frustration is not exactly new for Fortnite fans. Gamers were caught off guard by the effectiveness of the Magneto Power from the previous season, and it did not seem to undergo any significant changes throughout. Although Fortnite's Magneto Power offered a decent counter to players who were fighting vehicles on foot, its high damage output and range made gamers dread encounters with those who were able to get their hands on the items. It appears that fans will have to wait and see whether the developers want to shake things up.
