Epic Games has significantly buffed controller aim assist settings in Fortnite, and this has led to mixed opinions among the community. Fortnite is available on PC, consoles, and mobile, which results in a varied pool of players in most matches, as most platforms don't give gamers the option to turn off crossplay. This has been controversial for various reasons. Firstly, each platform has its own specs, and this will greatly affect how the game runs, which may hinder players when they go up against enemies that can play it with max settings. Secondly, there can be a disparity when it comes to how players control their game, whether they use a keyboard and mouse, a controller, or touch controls.
Ultimately, there is no way to make Fortnite perfectly balanced for everyone. For example, on PC, this will always be part of gaming; players have computers with completely different specs, and there is a wide variety of controllers, keyboards, and mice that they can choose from. The best way to handle this and make the game as fair as possible is to guarantee the best gaming experience for each version of Fortnite and choice of controls.

Many players would argue that aiming with touch controls or a mouse provides greater precision compared to the analog stick on a controller. Most games attempt to keep it balanced by including aim assist. It appears that Epic Games believed the aim assist settings in Fortnite were not optimal and decided to buff them following a hotfix on June 20. Players will now get a 20 percent aim assist boost while hipfiring and a 25 percent boost while aiming down sights.
Epic Games Boosts Controller Aim Assist Strength in Fortnite
While Epic Games did not publicly disclose how it boosted aim assist strength, Fortnite leaker HYPEX shared the information in a tweet, and it resulted in a heated comments section. While some players welcomed the change, others voiced how unnecessary it was to buff this setting. Controller players had already been in the community's crosshairs due to this matter, and Epic responded by making adjustments to aim assist in Fortnite to provide a more balanced experience for everyone.
This is still a major discussion matter among the community. There is a line between balanced and unfair, and many believe that it has been crossed, especially following the addition of auto-fire to Fortnite, and now a major buff to aim assist. Players who would prefer to tone it down to keep the game challenging can visit the Advanced Sensitivity section in the Controller Settings menu and adjust Aim Assist Strength.
