Fortnite players anxious for updates on upcoming content can rest easy, as a new leak has detailed a variety of Epic Games' plans. These plans include the progression of map changes in Fortnite's current season, an upcoming Solos tournament, the release of drivable cars, and also a very highly anticipated skin. The counterpart to Fortnite's Aquaman skin, the villainous Black Manta skin, is said to be releasing on July 16 according to a supposed Fortnite insider.
The leak comes from the iFireMoney Twitter account, a common source for leaked Fortnite news. They put out a series of tweets detailing a schedule of upcoming Fortnite events and releases that have yet to be officially announced. The Black Manta skin release date of July 16 is the first upcoming date in the leak. No details are provided regarding whether the Black Manta skin will be an unlock or a purchasable item. Another leaker did say that the Black Manta Blades pickaxe will be available alongside the new skin, however.
Black Manta, for those unfamiliar, is perhaps the greatest nemesis of Aquaman. His history in the Aquaman comics goes all the way back to 1967, which a variety of victories and defeats since then. He also plays a major role in the recent Aquaman film, which the Fortnite skin appears to be based on. His defining feature is a large oval-shaped helmet with glowing red eyes, along with jet black armor.
iFireMonkey shares a variety of other leaked dates, as well. The most important of which is July 18th, which will be the next time that the waters in Fortnite Season 4 recede. This will presumably be the major event in which the waters nearly entirely disappear from the island. The Fortnite map will be changed, but only in a few surprisingly small ways.
Evidence that this will be the major event where the water fully recedes comes via another leaked event date. On July 21, iFireMonkey says that cars will be introduced to Fortnite. Cars as in driveable vehicles, which will be a new feature to Fortnite outside of a few previous gimmicky additions. It's not really sensible to release cars for a map that's still largely flooded, so it must mean the flood will be gone.
The only other detail leaked by iFireMonkey is the registration and starting dates for what fans are calling the Galaxy Girl Cup tournament, July 20th and 25/26 respectively. Details about this tournament are thin, but it's said to be a solo tournament that rewards a Galaxy Girl skin. Fortnite's third birthday will also be on the 25th, which could be fun.
Expect official confirmation of Epic Games' plans to come in the weeks ahead.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
