Summary

  • Fortnite has evolved from a battle royale into a diverse platform with extra game modes like a kart racer and LEGO Fortnite.
  • Fortnite's success and popularity have led to collaborations with major franchises like Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and anime series like Attack on Titan. There is room to expand with new collaborations for anime in particular.
  • Potential collaborations with popular anime series like One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, Demon Slayer, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure would undoubtedly interest fans.

Over the last seven years or so, Fortnite has grown from a simple battle royale, to an entire platform in and of itself. Now, Fortnite isn't just home to Zero Build and Battle Royale, but a wealth of extra game modes, including a kart racer, a Rock Band-like rhythm game, and the Minecraft-like survival mode LEGO Fortnite, all of which are available for no extra charge. But those modes wouldn't have seen the light of day if Fortnite wasn't such a global hit to begin with, and a good deal of that success is tied to its countless number of collaborations.

Beginning with the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2018, Fortnite has crossed over with just about every popular franchise that most general audiences can think of. Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Halo, Resident Evil, God of War, and The Walking Dead have all crossed over with Fortnite, and that's somehow just scratching the surface. More recently, Fortnite has dipped its toes into the world of anime, delivering skins based on Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, and a few others, and while that's a great start, there are plenty more anime out there that would be perfectly suited for a Fortnite collaboration.

LEGO has done a lot of experimenting in the video game landscape recently and a light-hearted, family-friendly LEGO Soulslike would be amazing to see.

Anime Skins That Should Come to Fortnite

One Piece

With a predicted 523.2 million copies in circulation as of the end of 2023, over 1000 anime episodes currently out, and a recent Netflix show doing very well, it feels safe to say that One Piece is one of the most popular IP in the world right now, and it's honestly shocking that it hasn't come to Fortnite yet. With a vibrant and bright art style and some suitably over-the-top character designs, One Piece's Straw Hat Pirates are already perfectly suited for Fortnite's aesthetic. Thankfully, there are some pretty heavy rumors that One Piece will be coming to Fortnite very soon, though this wouldn't be the first time a Fortnite x One Piece collab has been leaked and not come to fruition.

Cowboy Bebop

A bit of an older anime, but a classic for a reason, Cowboy Bebop would be another great pick for Fortnite crossover skins. It's often been the case that Fortnite will bring over three or four characters with each of its anime collabs, and that's the ideal number for Cowboy Bebop, with its primary cast consisting of just four crewmates. The recent Netflix adaptation may not have fared too well, but the original Cowboy Bebop anime remains a favorite of so many.

Demon Slayer

A fairly new kid on the block, Demon Slayer is another incredibly popular anime and manga series that feels like it should have been in Fortnite already due to its striking art style. With a fourth anime season set to air in just a few months, there's never been a better time for a Demon Slayer x Fortnite collaboration, with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Inosuke being obvious first picks for crossover skins.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

One of the most iconic anime and manga series of the last few decades, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is still running strong, with its ninth part currently being written. Though the anime is on a bit of a hiatus, there's never a bad time for a Fortnite x JoJo's Bizarre Adventure collaboration, with characters like Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, Giorno Giovanna, and of course, Dio Brando all being anime icons that would bring some much-appreciated flair to Fortnite's multiplayer.
