During the D23 event, Epic Games and Marvel confirmed the next Fornite season as Absolute Doom, which brings new characters like Gwenpool into the game alongside new versions of Doctor Doom and others. Fortnite is no stranger to collaborations, as these crossovers have become increasingly important to the game over the past few years. Epic Games has managed to feature content across nearly every type of medium, from video games, movies, and TV shows, to artists and other musicians as well.

Prior to the start of Chapter 5, Season 4, new leaks and rumors heavily suggested that Doctor Doom would be appearing again in Fortnite. New leaks indicated that the upcoming Season 4 battle pass seemingly featured a new skin for Doctor Doom after a green cape was discovered within the LEGO Fortnite game files. With the recent D23 announcement, the leaks and datamines have proven true as Marvel is once again coming back to Fortnite with another big in-game event.

Following the conclusion of Season 3's live event in Fortnite, which saw Pandora's Box seemingly being unearthed under Redline Rig, players have been eagerly awaiting to see just who it was that manipulated those events. Thanks to the D23 reveal from Marvel's Kevin Feige, Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni, and Pixar studio boss Pete Doctor, Fortnite's upcoming season is known as Absolute Doom. A new trailer confirmed Doctor Doom using the Redline Rig incident to essentially absorb the power from Pandora's Box. The trailer showcases what appears to be a major battle between both sides of the conflict and the description seems to indicate players will be able to join either side.

Alongside what appears to be a big list of Marvel characters joining the fight, Fortnite is also getting new items and weapons for players to check out during Season 4, including Dual Micro SMGs. The trailer also seemingly teases new abilities like Captain America’s Shield or War Machine’s Arsenal, and Gwenpool appears to be using Iron Man rocket gear to not only fly to different destinations, but use different attacks on enemies below. Fans who are ready to dive back into this Fortnite and Marvel season can do so starting on August 16.

The arrival of Marvel back into Fortnite likely signals both new and returning items into the in-game shop. In fact, Fortnite also already added an X-Men Bundle which includes Cyclops, Colossus, and Jubilee, as well as a collection of backblings, emotes, and other items. In fact, Epic is planning to add a special Battle Pass Quest in September, which will allow players to unlock a new version of Doctor Doom when it arrives.
