After Auden rescues Frey in Forspoken, players will get the chance to discover Cipal city starting from chapter three. However, more options and NPC Detours (Side Quests) are available starting from chapter four.
As Frey wakes up and changes her clothes by putting on a Cloak in Forspoken, she ventures out into Cipal, so she can figure out a way out of the city to complete Auden's request. However, before leaving Cipal, it's crucial that players do some stuff that will certainly help them in their journey beyond the city's wall.
6 Talk To NPCs And Gain EXP
NPC are non-playable characters that can be interacted with in Forspoken. While exploring the city of Cipal and using Cuff's scan, it's possible to mark a few characters that can be talked to as some of them will reward Frey EXP upon completing the conversation.
Additionally, some characters will give players new information that wasn't mentioned before, so it can be added to the Archive. An example of these characters are:
- The Tavernkeeper from The Shady Tree bar will reveal more about the Cognoscents' Guild and Auden. It's also possible to ask for a drink every chapter, which will also reward EXP.
- Wallace Sangeet is a Bard, the Minstrel of the Town, found in the main Plaza just across the Shady Tree bar. Talking with him will catch the attention of a Guard, making Frey run away.
- Councilman Treahy Duganur, a Council person for Visoria, can be seen teaching children by climbing the small stairs on the right side of the main Plaza. Frey can ask him about the Cognoscents' Guilds and Athia.
5 Play The Partha Game To Receive Random Stat Boosts
Partha is a dice-based game from Junoon that's made from animal bones and some sides are carved with symbols. To win the Partha game, players need to roll the dice; if it lands on a symbol, this will be a lucky day. As for what it means to the protagonist, getting a symbol from the Partha dice rewards Frey with a random boost for the whole chapter in Forspoken.
There's a Health boost that makes her feel comforted and will continuously restore a small amount of HP when the Health bar is not full. There is also a Defense boost that makes Frey feel protected which increases her Defense and there is a Strength symbol that boosts the spell ATK, making her feel powerful.
4 Craft Necessary Materials
As players progress through chapter three in Forspoken, they'll eventually encounter a little orphan girl named Olevia who can help Frey get out of Cipal undetected. But before that, the orphan teaches Frey about Crafting and Upgrading. Additionally, Olevia gives some materials and teaches the protagonist a few recipes like how to make a Healing Draught, how to increase Medicine Pouch Capacity, and Materials Pouch Capacity.
It’s crucial to note that upon leaving the city, players will encounter many unforgiving enemies and also Mutants who will cause some heavy damage. So, using the Balm Flax given by Olevia, approach the Crafting Bench and enter the Craft option to create some much-needed Healing Draught.
3 Upgrade Equipment To Strengthen Armor
Immediately after crafting some items on the Crafting Bench, Olevia shows Frey the stuff she 'collected' and tells her to use some of them to upgrade her equipment. Players will find a Crag Grass, a Grainstone, and a Wild Musk.
These items will help tremendously as they will upgrade some of Frey's equipment stats like Health for the Elite Cloak and Purple Magic for the Spectra Combo Necklace. Boosting these stats can do wonders for Frey when she's exploring the open world full of malicious enemies.
2 Collect Old Coins
Old Coins are one of the two currencies used in Forspoken. Sadly, it cannot be used in chapter three as there are no merchants or traders available. But, that does not abolish the idea of collecting some coins to have an advantage when a merchant appears.
Before Frey sleeps and changes her appearance, some Old Coins can be found on a ledge behind the hut she's supposed to sleep in. As for the next day, head up the stairs across the plaza in the middle of the city and climb the upper railings then jump down to the lower platform to get some extra Old Coins. The location can be pinpointed if players use Cuff's scan.
1 Complete Detours To Get Unique Items
One of the first Detours (Side Quests) players will encounter is Chasing the Calico Cat Quest in Forspoken. The cat can be found in the southern parts of the city near a river. Upon interacting with the animal, it will run away quickly and players must chase the cat before they lose sight of it.
The chase is not that difficult by any means if players manage to immediately follow the swift creature. After running around for a while, it will stop near an item that Frey can pick up. Turns out it's a Poppet that cannot be used until later chapters. Poppets are also considered a currency so collecting them is highly vital in Forspoken. The Side Quest rewards 50 EXP and 11 Mana once finished.
Forspoken is now available on PS5 and PC.
