The Flight Simulator franchise has always revolved around the concept of exploration, and how it feels to journey across the entire planet at any pace the player desires. As the years have gone on, Flight Simulator has tried to capture this feeling time and time again, introducing new features and mechanics that allow players to live out their aviation fantasies more vividly. Flight Simulator 2024 embraces all of this more so than ever before, bringing a fully-fledged career system to the game.
A mechanic that some competitors have experimented with in the past, and something even previous Flight Sim entries have tried their hand at briefly, Flight Simulator 2024 will feature a vast array of simulated careers that players can choose from. There are a total of 10 careers confirmed for Flight Simulator 2024 so far, each one coming with its own set of objectives and unique assortment of aircraft.

Every Career Type Confirmed for Flight Simulator 2024 So Far
Red Bull Air Race
In Flight Simulator 2024's most recent trailer at the Xbox Showcase, a total of 10 careers were briefly shown off. While the exact details of these careers aren't yet known, the trailer's in-game visuals give fans a pretty good idea of what they can expect from each simulated job. The first career shown was the Red Bull Air Race, where players need to fly through various aerial obstacle courses while racing some AI opponents.
Commercial Flight
A good portion of the Flight Simulator audience has always had a penchant for piloting their own commercial airliner, and Flight Simulator 2024 is going to embrace that passion like never before. Based on the trailer, it seems as though – for the first time in series history – commercial planes will feature simulated passengers, which should make flights feel more realistic than ever. Choosing the Commercial Flight career path in Flight Simulator 2024 will probably require players to land at a specific airport for a specific time, following important aviation and air traffic procedures along the way.
Air Ambulance
In this Flight Simulator 2024 career, players will seemingly need to land, pick up an injured passenger, and take them to the nearest medical facility. Due to the vulnerable nature of the passenger, this career might introduce some kind of passenger comfort meter that the player needs to stay aware of.
Aerial Advertising
This career will have players hooking up an advertisement for their aircraft and setting off into the sky above. Players will probably need to pass certain landmarks or specific districts with the banner billowing behind them.
VIP Charter Service
In the VIP Charter Service career, players will pick up their high-paying clients and take them wherever they require, like a much more serious, slower-paced Crazy Taxi. A passenger comfort meter would also make a lot of sense here.
Agricultural Aviation
In Agricultural Aviation, players will hop in a fast-moving helicopter that's been fitted with special tools designed to spread water or other liquid-based substances across a wide area. Players will need to fly over fields and spray them.
Search and Rescue
The Search and Rescue career in Flight Simulator 2024 will have players heading out to a ship wreckage in the middle of the sea, locating any survivors, getting them on board, and bringing them back to safety. It's unclear if this career will also extend to on-land search and rescue missions as well.
Helicopter Cargo Transport
Here, players hop in a large cargo helicopter and carry a heavy payload to their objective. The Xbox Showcase trailer showed the cargo helicopter landing on a skyscraper in the middle of a bustling city.
Remote Cargo Ops
Fairly similar to Helicopter Cargo Transport, Remote Cargo Ops will see players transport a payload to a specific destination. But the difference here is the type of aircraft the player will be piloting, with Remote Cargo Ops allowing players to take control of a large military cargo plane.
Aerial Firefighting
Similar to Agricultural Aviation, Aerial Firefighting will involve players flying over marked areas, and spraying them with water from above.
