After Security Breach itself left much to be desired, many players were surprised and thrilled to find out just how full of content Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach RUIN turned out to be. The DLC expansion acts as a follow-up to the base game, taking place quite some time after Gregory and Glamrock Freddy save Vanessa and the Mega Pizzaplex has been closed due to falling into complete disrepair. This time, players control Cassie, a friend of Gregory's who received a message from him saying he was waiting for her at the ruined location.

Cassie and Her Ties to Roxy and the Mega Pizzaplex

Once players start playing the RUIN expansion, they'll be immediately treated to two important facts about Cassie. Her dad is a technician for Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, and her favorite animatronic character is Roxxane "Roxy" Wolf according to the description of her Roxy-Talkie. Cassie reacts to the new withered state of Freddy and his friends just like any child would by seeing their favorite characters in such a state; expressing sympathy and worry for them.

However, Cassie's adoration of Roxy is made rather clear to players as they make their way through as many advertisements featuring the other band members of the pizzeria are replaced by Roxy in the AR world, heavily influenced by the neural transmitter that gets placed in Cassie's head once she gets Vanny's mask. This connection with the digitized version of the Mega Pizzaplex's security leads Cassie to visualize cutouts of herself next to Roxy, with additional cutouts going over how Gregory's disappearance after the events of Security Breach hurt her.

How Fans See the Pain of Five Nights at Freddy's First Hand

While Gregory's disappearance is a result of Security Breach's Princess Quest ending, he's an exception to the rule with FNAF as Five Nights at Freddy's core story revolves around the child murders that have plagued the popular franchise chain for decades. Not only does RUIN emphasize that these incidents take their toll through Cassie's visualized trauma over losing her friend Gregory, but also in what Cassie has to do in the game.

Cassie screams when she first encounters Roxy in the game, who mistakes her for what's likely Vanny due to the mask Cassie wears to disable Security Nodes and collect Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach RUIN's AR collectibles. This leads Roxy to freeze up in error, as she realizes just who she's gone after. Unlike Gregory, Cassie has a guest profile, and Roxy later reveals why. Cassie celebrated her birthday party at the Mega Pizzaplex one year, and Roxy and Gregory were the only two people who celebrated with her as none of her other friends showed up.

This only gets fully revealed when players need to make what might be the toughest choice in all of Security Breach's RUIN expansion as Roxy is the last Security Node keeping "Gregory" trapped. She deactivates her favorite animatronic after Roxy recognizes her and consoles her, and this upsets Cassie so much that she cries throughout the rest of the game afterward.

Players watch all of RUIN's storyline through the eyes of a kid who's dragged into something she was likely never aware of, and all she gets for hurting the things she loves is three endings that see her lost or even dead. It adds weight to the situation surrounding the series as Cassie isn't the first to go through this, and she won't be the last.
