Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach fans are having an incredible week. A few days ago, Blumhouse revealed the first teaser trailer for the Five Nights at Freddy's movie. Now, an official trailer has been released for Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach Ruin, a massive DLC that looks to up the horror exponentially. While the trailer may appear to be a simple string of gameplay moments, die-hard fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's series were quick to identify major lore implications. The trailer's dialogue and gameplay features prime the Ruin DLC for some massive revelations. However, fans familiar with the larger lore of the Pizzaplex can see the pieces falling into place. Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach Ruin's mission is already clear.

Five Nights at Freddy's Security Breach was released in December 2021, and quickly proved divisive among fans. The story of Security Breach lacked any major lore reveals, and its PC port suffered from a myriad of glitches. In the time since its release, however, many of Security Breach's biggest mysteries have been answered, as the Tales of the Pizzaplex series revealed the location's darkest events and their true source. With the Ruin trailer, it appears that Cassie will seek to free the animatronics, setting the stage for Tales of the Pizzaplex's biggest reveals to make their in-game debut.

Each entry of the Tales of the Pizzaplex series features a collection of short stories, detailing a range of minor and major events at the Pizzaplex through the use of parallel characters and events. Of the stories, few are as explosive as GGY, from the series' fifth volume, The Bobbiedots Conclusion. GGY seemingly reveals the true nature of Gregory's time at the Pizzaplex, prior to the events of Security Breach. Gregory, likely under the Glitchtrap virus' control, hacks the Pizzaplex's arcade cabinets and animatronics using a modified playpass, leaving his digital signature, GGY, in the code of each device. Later the story connects the dots between Gregory and a series of missing person cases, providing a direct connection to Security Breach's Retro CD recordings.

The first trailer for Security Breach Ruin sees a new protagonist, Cassie, called by Gregory to the Pizzaplex, a considerable time after the game's conclusion. The gameplay hints that Cassie will attempt to free FNAF's Glamrock animatronics from their virus. The trailer clearly hints at Roxy being freed, with another scene hinting at an attempt to free Monty. Cassie appears to be undoing Gregory's hacks. Though, with Gregory seemingly guiding her, the motive is unclear. Given the context of GGY, it is likely Cassie is being lured for a different reason, as her arrival parallels the circumstances under which GGY's missing persons were lured.

Ruin May Reveal The True Identity of Burntrap

Five Nights At Freddy's Security Breach True Ending

The Ruin DLC's trailer also appears to confirm Security Breach's true ending. This conclusion saw the Pizzaplex collapse down on the underlying Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, after Gregory's face-off with Burntrap. Initially, fans believed Burntrap to be William Afton, resurrected by the Glitchtrap virus. However, Tales of the Pizzaplex has seemingly revealed the character's true identity and original source of the virus - The Mimic.

The Mimic is an animatronic endoskeleton with extensive connections to Five Nights at Freddy's lore. Designed to mimic best practices, a violent outburst from its creator leads to the corruption of The Mimic's core program, mimic1. Soon after, The Mimic begins to impersonate people's voices and lure factory inhabitants to their deaths. Following its unwitting adaptation throughout Fazbear animatronics, the mimic1 program continues to learn from observation, culminating in the Glitchtrap persona. With recent Tales of the Pizzaplex entries explicitly stating that mimic1 has full control of the Pizzaplex, Ruin's trailer paints a clear picture. A compromised Gregory or, more likely, The Mimic has plans for the Pizzaplex, and Cassie plays a pivotal role in its success.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with the Ruin DLC releasing July 2023.
