This article contains spoilers for Five Nights at Freddy's (2023) and Scream.
A reliable movie insider has teased the possibility of seeing a Scream reunion within the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, reuniting Matthew Lillard with a familiar face. Based on the video game series by Scott Cawthon and serving as a direct sequel to the 2023 predecessor of the same name, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is directed by Emma Tammi, with Cawthon on writing duties, and stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Lillard in returning roles, with Annabelle Comes Home’s Mckenna Grace joining the sequel’s cast.
Blumhouse Productions head Jason Blum confirmed that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 would solve fans’ biggest problems with the first installment, specifically regarding how scary the live-action material was. For devout FNAF fans, the game’s live-action debut on the silver screen was a real treat for Easter egg hunters, but horror fans going in blind generally didn’t feel the same excitement if Rotten Tomatoes scores are anything to go by. Since the FNAF IP has spawned several games, spin-offs, and even novels, the movies may continue for a while, considering how much lore there is to get through.
'Looks Exactly How I Imagined He Would' The Five Nights At Freddy's 2 Poster Is Here & Fans Are Excited About One Part
Fans are thrilled about the poster for Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the upcoming sequel from Blumhouse, because of one character.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 Rumor Teases Scream's Skeet Ulrich as Henry Emily
Shared by Daniel Richtman on Patreon (via ComicBook), the insider reported actor Skeet Ulrich, who Scream fans will remember playing Billy Loomis, had been cast in the sequel. Lillard starred opposite Ulrich in the 1996 film that saw both actors playing the two main killers behind the iconic Ghostface. The duo has since become iconic in the slasher sub-genre, prompting several fans to dress up as the white-clad pair for Halloween. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’s teaser image confirmed that Lillard was returning as William Afton in the sequel, and Ulrich’s role is said to be a pivotal one in FNAF lore.
Richtman noted Ulrich would be playing Henry Emily, who is known to be the owner of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and a pastime partner of Lillard’s Afton. Since Lillard’s character died in the first film, the insider mentioned the sequel will include a series of flashbacks to the 1980s, which is where Afton’s interaction with Emily will likely take place. However, nothing was said about Ulrich’s new character having a part in the present plot of the successor. In addition to the Scream reunion rumor, Lillard acknowledged Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’s storytelling had been amped up, which is another example of Cawthon’s willingness to embrace fans’ feedback.
While the Scream duo tease is an exciting one for horror fans, veteran FNAF followers have been championing a possible cameo for one of the game series’ most prolific influencers. Markiplier addressed whether he would deliver a Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 cameo, after the YouTuber couldn’t appear in the first movie due to scheduling conflicts. Markiplier rose to fame during the height of FNAF’s popularity, running a successful YouTube series that saw the content creator host hilarious streams while trying to survive the night against the terrifying animatronics.
