Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is arriving in theaters in December 2025, and after the fun teaser trailer was released a few months ago, a new poster has been shared.
Five Nights at Freddy's was released on October 27th, 2023 and starred Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, who gets hired as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza after experiencing family trauma. After noticing some strange things at the usually quiet establishment, he discovers the wild and scary world of Freddy's animatronics. Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Piper Rubio, and Elizabeth Lail are coming back for the sequel, and Lillard's Scream co-star Skeet Ulrich will play Henry Emily. Other new cast members include Teo Briones, Mckenna Grace, and Wayne Knight, who is known for his hilarious and quirky turn as Newman on Seinfeld. Based on Hutcherson's comments that the second movie is "scarier" and fan reactions to this new poster, all signs point to Five Nights at Freddy's 2 being just as popular as the original.
The Five Nights At Freddy's 2 Poster Shows Toy Freddy, Which Excites Fans
On Sunday, June 1st, 2025, Blumhouse shared the poster for Five Nights at Freddy's 2 at the CCXP festival in Mexico City. One character is displayed prominently on the poster: Toy Freddy, the animatronic who plays an important role in the second game.
Fans were thrilled to see Toy Freddy on the poster and shared their thoughts on Reddit. Redditor @Playstation_Jedi wrote:
"Wow, Toy Freddy looks great, he looks exactly how I imagine he would, I also like how they've done his eyes, a vast improvement over the first film's eyes. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the Toys."
Redditor @itsyoboysobble added:
"Toy Freddy looks so shiny, and incredibly accurate as well! He literally looks like he got pulled out of the games!"
The other toys appearing in the sequel include The Puppet, Balloon Boy, Mangle, Yellow Rabbit/Springtrap, Toy Chica, and Toy Bonnie. Besides wondering what the other toys will look like, fans are curious about Lillard's villain character, William Afton, and hope that he is given a satisfying and detailed arc.
The main cast members aren't the only talent who came back for the sequel. Emma Tammi directed Five Nights at Freddy's 2 as well as the first film, and franchise creator Scott Cawthon wrote the screenplay. In an interview with Variety in 2023, Tammi shared that Cawthon was a big part of the original film, from producing the movie to visiting the New Orleans set. Tammi said, "He’s super invested in it on a creative level."
The Five Nights at Freddy's 2 game by Scott Cawthon was released in 2014, followed by Five Nights at Freddy's 3 and Five Nights at Freddy's 4 in 2015. Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location arrived in 2016, along with a few other games in the next few years. Since new locations such as a kid's bedroom and an amusement park called Fazbear's Fright, it's possible that Blumhouse will release subsequent sequels and they will have new settings. It seems likely that the sequel will perform as well at the box office as the first.
Based on the teaser trailer and the poster of Toy Freddy, it's possible that Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will be more terrifying than the first one. While Toy Freddy is definitely charming, there's a creepy look on his face that suggests something sinister. Fans will get the chance to see what else has been adapted from the popular game when the sequel arrives in theaters on December 5th, 2025.
