How To Get The Coal Bait In Fisch

Coal Bait can be found inside Volcanic Geodes in Fisch. To get these rare bait crates, you’ll need to reel in the Roslit Volcano, buy from Traveling Merchants, or complete level 50+ Angler quests.

If you’re specifically after Coal Bait, you should focus on Volcanic Geodes obtained via the first two methods. Here's a breakdown of each:

Fish In The Roslit Volcano

One of the best ways to get Volcanic Geodes in Fisch is by fishing in the Roslit Volcano. This area is part of Roslit Bay and can be accessed through a cave. To get there from Moosewood, head east and dock near the Shipwright at Roslit Bay. Then, find the Angler Quest NPC and continue north. The cave is located on the right side of the camp. If you’re using a GPS, follow these coordinates: X:-1875, Y:165, Z:380.

Once inside Roslit Volcano, you’ll need to cast your hook into the lava using a Magma Rod, Reinforced Rod, or any rod enchanted with Invincible, as only these rods will work. However, to save time, it’s best to use the Invincible enchantment on a high Lure Speed rod like the Rod of the Depths, the The Tempest Rod, or the Phoenix Rod, since the first two pieces of equipment are slower at casting anything. Opening the Volcanic Geodes will reward you with plenty of Coal Bait.

Buy From Traveling Merchant

Another way to get Volcanic Geodes is by purchasing them from a Traveling Merchant for 600 in-game cash. This method is more convenient if you don’t want to grind for geodes. Unlike local merchants, these vendors sail between four locations in the game:

Moosewood
Roslit Bay
Sunstone Island
Terrapin Island

Keep checking listed areas regularly and watch for a server-wide notification to catch the merchant when they arrive. Each Volcanic Geode can give you around six or more Coal Baits. However, not every Traveling Merchant will have Volcanic Geodes in stock, so be sure to grab them when you spot one selling them.
