Spoiler Warning: This list contains spoilers for Fire Force Season 3
Created to keep an eye on the other Fire Force groups and led by a committee leader with unshakable principles and a staunch sense of duty, Company 8 seems to be the perfect team and is now a force to be reckoned with. All seems well in the world of Fire Force — until it isn't.
Fire Force: 8 Best Fights In The Anime
These are some of the most iconic fights in the Fire Force series.
The squad, faced with a plethora of problems brought about by forces beyond their control, is put to the test. Can they be saved by their ideals? Will their grit stand the test of time? Will they survive this hit against their ranks? And most importantly, will their bond endure the harshness of the flames? In the unforgiving world of Fire Force, even the strongest burn.
8 The Second Cataclysm's Threat
The Evangelist’s Endgame Is Imminent
- Negative Outcome: Complete world annihilation
The looming danger of the second cataclysm is now nearer than ever in Season 3 of Fire Force. It is apparent that the Evangelist’s ultimate motive is to recreate the event of the Great Cataclysm, which was nearly responsible for the extermination of all of humanity, causing overall destruction with the release of unbridled flames from the Adolla realm.
Shinra Kusakabe, being a member of Company 8, places the company in a unique position. Being a bearer of the Adolla Burst and the Fourth Pillar, he has the potential to aid the success of the Evangelist’s goal. Thus, Company 8 is tasked with not just physical confrontations against agents of the Evangelist but also protecting their own from possible abduction and forced collaboration.
7 Burns’ Shift In Allegiance
Company 8 Loses A Leader, Gains A Dangerous Enemy
- Negative Outcome: Captain Burns fully devotes himself to the Evangelist and wipes out unbelieving Fire Force units
Burns, Company 1’s captain and a notable symbol of authority to Company 8’s members, undergoes a profound change in his loyalty following an encounter with White Clad’s Haumea, a high-ranking member of the organization. By pandering to his sense of duty and devotion to Sol and the church, she was able to manipulate his connection to Adolla Link and win him over to support her goal.
Burns’ hostility is quite dangerous, as it's not rooted in mere animosity but in a religious philosophy that would be extremely difficult — if not impossible — to correct. This creates an obstacle as Company 8 loses a paternal figure and gains a formidable enemy.
6 Public Defamation
Fire Force’s Heroes Branded As Traitors
- Negative Outcome: Complete disbandment of Company 8
Following Obi’s arrest, efforts begin to paint Company 8 as traitors and slander their image in the public’s eye. The Imperial army unites to ruin their reputation through misinformation, falsified media reports, and manipulation of the truth.
Unlike physical obstacles that are obvious and are readily acknowledged, defamation attacks their reputation, sense of obligation, and pride as the protectors of the people, and breaks the credibility they've built over the years with the citizens. This poses a danger to the company in so many ways; it destroys their confidence and morale, making them targets of aggressive mobs and scared citizens who now see them as terrorists.
5 The Threat Of Obi Turning Into An Infernal
A Captain Hero At Risk
- Negative Outcome: Obi’s transformation becomes a tragic turning point, putting Company 8 in grief
Obi, being the heart behind Company 8’s success despite his lack of pyrokinetic abilities, is faced with the threat of becoming an Infernal. Following his capture and subsequent incarceration, members of Company 8 are burdened with the fact that their beloved captain might become subjected to experiments and torture, making him an Infernal and losing his humanity and life in the process.
Fire Force: Strongest Lieutenants, Ranked
These Fire Force lieutenants may not be as strong as the captains, but they can certainly demolish countless infernals with ease.
Saddled with the responsibility of saving him, the team is on a race against time to prevent one of humanity’s strongest leaders from succumbing to the very fate he dedicated his life to combat, challenging their loyalty, resolve, and dedication as a team.
4 Antagonism From Other Fire Force Groups
Internal Conflict Between Fire Force Divisions
- Negative Outcome: A civil war amongst Fire Force units
The Special Fire Force groups were created to serve a specific purpose — to investigate the reason for spontaneous human combustion and protect the civilians from the resulting effects. However, each Fire Force group was heavily affiliated with a strong player in Tokyo’s political sphere, corrupting the intended motive of the companies and making them work towards their selfish goals. Thus, Company 8 was born to study the motives of other companies secretly.
This has resulted in obvious antagonism from other groups and deliberate plans to squash their efforts in a bid to prove their loyalty to their respective companies and preserve their status in the empire.
3 Opposition From The White Clad
War Against Certain Doom
- Negative Outcome: The Fire Force world is overrun by fanatics
No longer content with working from the shadows, the White Clad has come out with every intent to dominate and destroy anyone in their path. Teaming up with Tokyo’s Imperial Army, the Holy Sol Temple, and important members of the Fire Force groups, the Evangelist’s goal is closer to completion than ever.
For Company 8, this isn't something to brush aside. With actions like manipulating the Adolla Link and thus Shinra, attacks against civilians, and the possibility of facing the White Clad’s fearsome destroyers, it is obvious that the organization has a personal vendetta against them, placing them in positions of overwhelming risk and threatening the odds of their survival.
2 Complete Obliteration
Outnumbered And Outgunned
- Negative Outcome: The entire world order could reset, with Company 8 becoming forgotten relics
As the battle against the Evangelist and their minions intensifies, the horrifying possibility of complete obliteration looms continuously over their heads, threatening the existence of members of the team, their loved ones, and even worse, the world as they know it.
Fire Force: Strongest Second Generation Pyrokinetics, Ranked
These Second-generation pyrokinetics can take on fierce Infernals and give third-gens a run for their money.
With efforts intensified to aid the achievement of the White Clad’s goal — complete annihilation of the Earth and its rebuild according to the Evangelist’s plan, isolation from other Fire Force groups, and opposition from the rest of the world — the squad is forced to pull all strings to negate these, pushing every member above the limits of what they previously thought possible.
1 Uncertain Alliances
Partners Or Enemies?
- Negative Outcome: Distrust among Fire Force companies leading to fatal miscommunication during battles
Following their ostracism and subsequent defamation, the trust between Company 8, the Tokyo Empire, and other Fire Force groups wears thin. The team is forced into partnerships with groups and individuals with fickle loyalty, sketchy characters, and questionable motives.
One major example is the Joker, a public enemy and proclaimed outlaw who uses his influence and resources to aid their cause. Other examples include Companies 2, 5, and 7 of the Special Fire Force. Although once strong allies, their loyalty is now subject to scrutiny, creating an atmosphere of suspicion. Despite these, members of Company 8 understand that fighting alone is a futile task and that cooperation is required of them, even with imperfect allies.
