Fire Emblem Engage is set to launch for the Nintendo Switch this week, making the tactical RPG the first major first-party release for the house of Mario in 2023, followed by Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe in February and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in May.
While some might expect Fire Emblem Engage to be similar to 2019's well-reviewed Fire Emblem: Three Houses, that's not entirely the case. Engage seems to ditch the deep relationship building that Three Houses nearly perfected and focuses on the combat this time. Many reviewers of Fire Emblem Engage have even called out the story, calling it mediocre and somewhat predictable compared to Three Houses' compelling storylines. As a matter of fact, Engage only follows one main story route, with player choices gone entirely.
For the players who plan to jump into Fire Emblem Engage, it might also be worth knowing how long the RPG takes to complete and the number of chapters. This guide will go into all of that.
How Long is Fire Emblem Engage?
The Best War Games did not receive a review copy for Fire Emblem Engage, but other gaming sites have put out their reviews, and some have mentioned the time it takes to see the end of Engage's storyline.
In her review, Ash Parrish from The Verge states that she spent around 70 hours with Fire Emblem Engage and that it can be beaten in about 40 hours or so. Also, Brendan Graeber's review at IGN mentions that he spent 60 hours clearing the story while also spending time with some of the Paralogue side missions. The recruitable Fire Emblem characters will have these missions to complete, giving players plenty of extra hours of playtime. There's also a multiplayer arena to party up with friends in combat challenges.
With everything Engage offers, players will probably take about 40-50 hours to roll credits and can spend close to 100 hours (or more) doing everything.
There are also multiple difficulty modes in Fire Emblem Engag e, so if someone chooses the hardest one and also goes with Permadeath mode turned on, expect them to take even longer to finish the story. It takes time to form a plan on the battlefield to make sure no comrades die in action.
How Many Chapters are there
Fire Emblem Engage has 26 chapters to get through.
Fire Emblem Engage launches for the Nintendo Switch on January 20, 2023.
