Fire Emblem Engage: How the Ancient Well Works

In the newest update for Fire Emblem Engage, players will be able to get some new Emblem bracelets and interact with a new location in the Somniel. This update, called version 1.3.0, was released in March 2023, and it added something called the Ancient Well. This well allows players to drop in items and get new items in return, with a handful of exclusive "joke" items that have a chance to drop.

The Ancient Well is a little bit difficult to figure out, so players will want to know what they have to put in to get the items they are hoping to drop.

The Ancient Well was added for everyone in update 1.3.0, so even if players don't have the paid DLC expansion pass, they will be able to access this new area in the Somniel. First, players will need to reach Chapter 7; after that, just speak to the NPC that runs the Armory named Durthon, and he will instruct Alear to go to the Ancient Well in the Training Yard area.

After getting the weapons located inside the well, head back to the Armory. Then the well can be used at any time; players just need to drop any five items in their inventory in (except for Legendary level items and otherworldly items, which cannot be thrown in). Head out into the world map, do a paralogue, a skirmish, or a chapter battle, then head back to the well to get the new replacement items.

There are a total of five tiers of return items from the Ancient Well in this Switch-exclusive RPG. These items are based entirely on the monetary value of the five items put into the well in the first place.

Tier 1: Any five items adding up to less than 1,000 gold in Fire Emblem Engage
Tier 2: Five items that add up to 1,000g to 4,999g value
Tier 3: 5,000g - 9,999g combined item value of Fire Emblem Engage's weapons or other items
Tier 4: 10,000g - 19,999g combined item value
Tier 5: 20,000g or more combined item value

The joke weapons and items from the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage aren't the best items in the game by far. However, they are a cute addition to the weapon lineup as all these items look like food. There is a chocolate bar sword, a croissant bow, and more food items for players to collect exclusively from the Ancient Well.
