It's hard to talk about the greatest JRPGs around without mentioning the Final Fantasy series, a name that is almost synonymous with this genre. Ever since Final Fantasy 7 blew up on the PlayStation, the franchise has reached immense heights of popularity. The sheer number of mainline titles, spinoffs, sequels, and everything else along the same lines is truly extensive and goes to show just how beloved this series really is.

One of the many Final Fantasy spin-offs that are a ton of fun in its own right is Final Fantasy Type-0, a game that was stuck on the PSP for the longest time before receiving an HD makeover for modern consoles. While the quality of said remaster is definitely up for debate, the gameplay of the title is still quite solid. Players who want the best weapons for all members of Class Zero need to fight the true form of Gilgamesh, which only happens in a third playthrough.

14 Cards: Black Trump (Ace)

ace final fantasy type 0

The entire playable cast of Final Fantasy Type-0 is named after a deck of cards, barring the two later additions. Fittingly enough, the main character can also use magical cards to attack his enemies in battle.

If the eight-armed version of Gilgamesh decides to duke it out with Ace, then attaining victory nets his ultimate weapon, Black Trump. The great part about this card is that it has a small chance of outright killing an enemy, which is pretty neat indeed.

13 Flute: Elysian Whistle (Deuce)

Deuce from Final Fantasy Type-0

Deuce is an incredibly useful support character that players should use to great effect in Final Fantasy Type-0. That being said, dealing damage with her can be hard, so it's important to maximize these opportunities as much as possible.

Expect a tough battle when Deuce fights True Gilgamesh, which is going to be a truly nightmarish battle. Getting through this grueling encounter will net the Elysian Whistle, a weapon that enhances all forms of magic by +60.

12 Bow: Yoichi's Bow (Trey)

trey final fantasy type 0

Trey is the best ranged character in the game. Getting his ultimate weapon can prove to be a rewarding experience simply because of the sheer scale of damage he can unleash at the very peak of his strength.

Beating up Gilgamesh as Trey nets this great weapon. Just like Ace's ultimate weapon, Yoichi's Bow has a 10% chance of causing Instant Death upon a hit.

11 Magicite Pistol: MTek-ZERO (Cater)

cater final fantasy type 0

Using a Magicite Pistol in Final Fantasy Type-0 is pretty decent, although it's definitely not anyone's favorite weapon type. Regardless, it's still great to give Cater her ultimate weapon.

The MTek-ZERO is a pretty powerful pistol, even if it may not have any extra effects barring high damage. That being said, players will have to go through a fair bit of frustration to beat True Gilgamesh if they aren't used to Cater's moveset.

10 Mace: Thor's Hammer (Cinque)

Cinque from Final Fantasy Type-0

Cinque is a pretty ditzy girl, and it's hilarious to see her use one of the strongest melee weapons in the game. However, she's so slow and unwieldy that a lot of players don't really like her playstyle all that much.

So, it's only a given that beating Gilgamesh with this character is going to be a massive challenge. Achieving this feat nets Thor's Hammer, an epic-sounding weapon that isn't really all that remarkable barring its immense damage stats.

9 Scythe: Tezcatlipoca (Sice)

Ace and Sice in Final Fantasy Type-0 Cropped

At a glance, Sice may seem just as unwieldy to control as the previous character on this list. However, this isn't the case at all, with players loving her moveset once they come to grips with how her character works.

Slicing through True Gilgamesh is going to be a great time, and the reward for the same is worth it. Tezcatlipoca is a powerful Scythe that hits for immense damage, although it doesn't really have any extra features to boast about.

8 Whipblade: Brynhildr (Seven)

Seven from Final Fantasy Type-0

The Whipblade is another unique weapon that players can use in Final Fantasy Type-0. It can be tricky to use, but landing Killshots with a Whipblade is a ton of fun.

This weapon is wielded by Seven, who needs to beat Gilgamesh up to get the best Whipblade in the game. Brunhildr is a powerful weapon that makes the most of Seven's lengthy reach during combat.

7 Knuckles: Demon Fists (Eight)

Fans of quick-paced combat will love using Eight in the game. His range is very poor, but he more than makes up for it with a flurry of quick combos.

He'll easily beat up True Gilgamesh in no time flat if players are well-versed with Eight's moveset. The reward for beating this legendary enemy down is the Demon Fists, which are the best Knuckles in the game.

6 Spear: Lance Of Longinus (Nine)

nine final fantasy type 0

The Dragoon is one of the most iconic Final Fantasy jobs, with Nine filling this role in the game. He can carry out the iconic Jump ability as well, which is fun to use for obvious reasons.

Beating up True Gilgamesh with Nine nets the Lance of Longinus. It's a great weapon, and players who love Nine's long reach will be well-serviced by this spear indeed.

5 Katana: Genji Blade (Jack)

jack final fantasy type 0

Out of all the ultimate weapons that can be procured from Gilgamesh, this is the one that fits perfectly with his character. After all, the Genji Blade is one of the most iconic Final Fantasy weapons around, making an appearance in Type-0 as well.

Jack's katana moveset is pretty great, but his slow movement really takes the wind out of his sails at times. Players need to have a ton of patience to master Jack's moveset in the game.
