Thanks to some new releases, Final Fantasy fans can now play nearly every main series game in the franchise on PlayStation 5, except for two titles that are currently missing from the lineup. While Final Fantasy originated on Nintendo consoles, the brand has long been tied to PlayStation, with Final Fantasy 7 releasing as a PS1 exclusive back in the day and the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 set to be a PS5 exclusive come its launch in June.
Final Fantasy 16 being a PS5 exclusive should be huge for Sony's new console, as the Final Fantasy franchise is a proven brand and system seller. The latest games in the series may not have reached quite the same heights as the older titles in terms of critical reception, but it's possible Final Fantasy 16 will turn things around. Final Fantasy 16 gameplay looks impressive, but time will tell if it lives up to the franchise's incredible legacy.
While Final Fantasy fans wait for Final Fantasy 16's launch in June, they may want to take a trip down memory lane and revisit some of their favorite Final Fantasy titles. Luckily, nearly the entire main series is currently available to play on PS5, with some of the games even accessible through a PS Plus Extra or Premium subscription. Here are all the main series Final Fantasy games playable on PS5 as of April 2023.

Thanks to the recent launch of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, fans of the franchise can now play nearly every game in the series on PS5. The first 10 main series Final Fantasy games are now available, with fans able to play all the way from Final Fantasy 1 to Final Fantasy 10 before getting to a game that's not yet available on Sony's latest console. MMORPG Final Fantasy 11 is not available to play at this time, and it's unlikely to ever be released for PS5, unfortunately.
The other Final Fantasy game currently missing from the PS5 does stand a chance of being added to the lineup, though. Final Fantasy 13 is perhaps the most divisive main series game in the entire franchise, but it would still be nice to have it available to play on newer platforms. Final Fantasy 13 can be played on Xbox thanks to the backward compatibility program, but it's currently unavailable on PS5. PS Plus Premium features a wide range of PS3 games for users to stream, though, and that could be the ticket to bringing Final Fantasy 13 to PS5 one day.
Even without Final Fantasy 11 or Final Fantasy 13, fans of the franchise could keep busy for months playing through the main series FF games that are available on Sony's newest console. And this isn't even counting the various spin-offs and remakes, like the acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Needless to say, the PS5 should be one of the best investments a Final Fantasy fan can make.
