Square Enix's Final Fantasy 14 is one of the most popular MMORPG's available at the moment, offering players a host of enjoyable and exciting content such as the main scenario quests, dungeons, duties, raids, and side quests, to name just a few.
One of the additional elements added in patch 3.2 was the Orchestrion, a jukebox style feature that allowed players to play music in their Free Company house, as well as inside of inn rooms. To add different tracks so the Orchestrion, players require Orchestrion rolls, which can be crafted, purchased, or received as rewards from achievements, dungeons, duties, and more. Check out 10 of the rarest Orchestrion rolls currently in the game, excluding any from purchasable items or limited-time events.
10 Return To Oblivion
Spoilers ahead. Return to Oblivion is the theme that plays during the final boss of the raid Eden's Verse: Refulgence, which was added in patch 5.2. It is the song that plays during the battle against the new version of Shiva, who resides inside the body of Ryne.
This orchestrion roll is a rare drop from Eden's Verse: Refulgence, so if you're not having much luck, you can alternatively purchase it from the market board from other players who managed to get the drop.
9 On Our Fates Alight
On Our Fates Alight is the music that plays when players are riding on the amaro mounts. Amaro were introduced in the Shadowbringers expansion, acting as the default mounts for rent, as well as later being added as a rare mount to obtain.
The On Our Fates Alight orchestrion roll is a rare drop from The Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah, an instanced treasure-hunting area that players can access by finding and opening a treasure coffer from Zonureskin Treasure Maps. Additionally, this orchestrion roll can be purchased from the market board.
8 Notice Of Death
Notice of Death is the theme song that plays during some of the scenes about the final boss in the Palace of the Dead, a rogue-like deep dungeon that was introduced in 2016. This orchestrion roll can also be purchased from the market board.
Once players have completed floor 200 of The Palace of the Dead, players are able to purchase the Notice of Death orchestrion roll from the NPC E-Una-Kotor, found in the South Shroud at Quarrymill. It will cost players 10 x Gelmorran Potsherd, which can be found in The Palace of the Dead.
7 A Reason To Live
A Reason to Live is the theme song that plays in the Dwarven settlement of Tomra in Kholusia. This orchestrion roll can be obtained from the Gemstone Trader, Sul Lad, in Il Mheg by exchanging 350 Bicolor Gemstones. Players must be Rank 3 with FATEs in Il Mheg for this item to be made available to them. Additionally, it can also be purchased from the market board.
Bicolor Gemstones are a form of currency that can be found in The First, introduced as part of the latest expansion. They are distributed as rewards from FATEs and can be exchanged at various vendors throughout Norvandt for exclusive items.
6 Upon The Rocks
Upon the Rocks is the theme song that plays during the dungeon Pharos Sirius Hard, which was home to the recurring Final Fantasy creature called Siren in the normal mode of this dungeon. Rather fittingly, the Upon the Rocks orchestrion roll is a rare drop from the final boss of Pharos Sirius Hard, Progenitrix.
If farming for orchestrion rolls in dungeons doesn't take your fancy, you can always resort to buying Upon the Rocks from the market board instead.
5 Bedlam's Brink
Bedlam's Brink is the theme music for the character Solus zos Galvus, one of the main antagonists of the game, but also a fan-favorite character. The Bedlam's Brink orchestrion roll can be obtained by exchanging 350 Bicolor Gemstones with the NPC Goushs Ooan at The Ondo Cups area of The Tempest.
Players must be Rank 3 with FATEs in The Tempest for this item to be available for them to purchase. Additionally, this orchestrion roll can also be purchased from the market board.
4 Knowledge Never Sleeps
Knowledge Never Sleeps is the theme song to The Crystarium area that was added as part of the Shadowbringers expansion content. The Knowledge Never Sleeps orchestrion roll can be obtained from the Gemstone Trader, Gramsol, in The Crystarium by exchanging 350 Bicolor Gemstones, or alternatively purchased from the market board.
However, players must be Rank 3 with FATEs in The Crystarium for this item to be available to them from Gramsol, making earning this item even more of a grind fest as not only do you need enough stones to buy it, but you have to rank up enough to purchase it.
3 Masquerade
The Masquerade orchestrion roll was added in patch 5.1 and can be bought from the NPC Pedronille, who can be found at the Eulmore Aetheryte Plaza. The roll will cost you 350 Bicolor Gemstones in total. Players must be Rank 3 with FATEs in Eulomore for this item to be available to them. Rank 3 requires players to have completed 60 FATEs in the area.
Additionally, if you don't fancy farming up a lot of gemstones and ranking up, you can purchase this roll from the market board, but it won't come cheap.
2 No Greater Sorrow
No Greater Sorrow is a tune that often plays in various small settlements in the Norvandt area from the Shadowbringers expansion areas, such as at Wolekdorf. This particular orchestrion roll can be purchased from Pedronille at the Eulmore Aetheryte Plaza for the price of 350 Bicolor Gemstones. Players must be Rank 3 with FATEs in Eulomore for this item to be available to them.
This beautiful orchestrion roll can be purchased from the market board as well, but it isn't exactly cheap due to the grind fest of farming gemstones to obtain one in the first place.
1 Doman Distractions
Doman Distractions is one of the rarer Orchestrion rolls and is the reward for players earning the achievement "Tile and Error I". This achievement is awarded to players when they achieve a mahjong rating of more than 1600. This Doman tune is fitting as a reward, as in Final Fantasy 14 mahjong is a game that originates in Doma.
Doman mahjong was added in patch 4.5 as an additional mini-game that players could play in The Gold Saucer. Players are able to join matches with other players, or against NPCs, and you can gain access to this game by talking to the NPC Lewena in The Gold Saucer.
