Dissidia Final Fantasy is a crossover fighting game where every game in the series is represented by a single hero and villain. For the first game, a simple Warrior of Light was chosen as a representative, who takes on the role of a close-range warrior in combat.

However, in EX Mode, he transforms into a Knight to enhance his damage considerably. It's a great way to pay homage to this upgraded job in Dissidia and makes the Warrior of Light more riveting than he has any right to be.

The political intrigue in Final Fantasy 12 is off the charts, featuring everything from imperial invasions to regicide. The latter puts Basch in a tough spot, with the Captain of the Knights of Dalmasca being framed for the death of King Raminas, his liege.

This puts him at odds with Judge Gabranth, the true perpetrator of the crime. Of course, given how complicated Final Fantasy 12's story is, it's easy to see why things run deeper than they seem, with Basch and his friends uncovering a conspiracy for the ages that will leave them quaking in their boots.

Most players would find their party in Final Fantasy 9 lacking without Steiner's capabilities as a knight. Despite being rather foolhardy at times, Steiner more than makes up for it by exhibiting some impressive offensive capabilities in combat.

The fact that he can team up with Vivi to use Sword Magic makes their teamwork downright crucial to winning certain fights. Players can mix and match all they want, but they'll likely stick with Steiner for the game's hardest bosses because of how effective he is as a knight.
