Square Enix has provided positive updates on the development of Kingdom Hearts 4 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. Kingdom Hearts 4 is the next entry in the series made in collaboration between Square Enix and Disney, while Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy reimagines the 1997 game for more modern platforms.
The latest installment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy came out in 2024 with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. After escaping Midgar, Cloud and his companions venture through the game world, which has undergone visual upgrades, such as improved textures and lighting. Kingdom Hearts 4, meanwhile, was announced in 2022 and has since been giving fans Hollow Knight: Silksong vibes due to the lack of news about the next adventure of Sora and his friends. It is no secret that the next part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy and Kingdom Hearts 4 are highly anticipated by fans, and fresh news gives them hope.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 Development Still Going Strong
On Twitter, user Genki_JPN posted a translation in which Lead Director Tetsuya Nomura confirms that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 are still in development. The excerpt is from a livestream in anticipation of the second anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis, and Nomura says that development “is going smoothly,” as well as teases that he knows when Square Enix will share more about the game. Despite the good news, the developer says that the next part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy does not yet have a name and hasn't been shown off.
Speaking about Kingdom Hearts 4, Nomura was also positive. According to the developer, who serves as the game's director, development of the next entry in the Kingdom Hearts series “is progressing well and according to plan.” Despite the promising update, Nomura did not provide any additional information, nor did he indicate that Square Enix has news about Kingdom Hearts 4 to share. Previously, a leak revealed possible worlds featured in Kingdom Hearts 4.
After this positive news, Kingdom Hearts 4 fans hope that it won't be long before the game receives another update in the near future. Final Fantasy fans, on the other hand, should mark September 27 on their calendars, as Square Enix will be at the Tokyo Game Show. The lineup for this year's event has already been confirmed and promises news about Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and more.
