A reliable video game leaker claims that Square Enix has no plans to bring the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy onto other gaming platforms like the Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series X. The second part of the trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, recently got a release date, and it will launch in February 2024. Fans have been eagerly anticipating this game, with the latest trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth showing off plenty of things to be excited about. This includes its expanded overworld, the Gold Saucer, and even Cloud riding on a segway.

Shortly after this trailer dropped, Square Enix also confirmed how long Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth would stay a PS5 exclusive game, which was shorter than many expected. The publisher confirmed it would be an exclusive up until May 29, 2024, which is roughly three months. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was originally released as a PS4 exclusive, but eventually got ports to PS5 and PC a few years after its launch on the last-gen console. While the window seems like it'd be a prime opportunity to bring the remake to other platforms, there are apparently no plans to do so, according to reliable leaker NateDrake.

This claim was posted on the famiboards forums, where its users were discussing rumored games for the Nintendo Switch successor. Some of the games brought up include Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, a possible seventh Far Cry game, and a new Monster Hunter. Nate, however, set the record straight by claiming that Square Enix currently has no plans to bring it to the Switch 2. He notes that a release on the platform is as likely as an Xbox release, where if Square Enix wants to do it, then it will happen.

Though Nate acknowledges that it could eventually happen, from what he has heard, this isn't Square Enix's current priority. He has previously dispelled some claims about the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy coming to the Switch and Xbox back at the start of September, which were given by fellow leaker I'm a Hero Too. Another leaker known as Necrolipe also stated that Hero's information was incorrect, backing up Nate's claims of how neither the Remake nor Rebirth would be coming to Switch or Xbox.

Despite the reliable track records of some of these leakers, it's important to take this information with a grain of salt until Square Enix or relevant publisher makes an official statement. For the time being, 2024's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be launching on PS5 and will remain as an exclusive until the end of May. A port to other systems like the PC, Switch, or Xbox has yet to be revealed, though based on these claims, fans should only have their hopes up for a PC port.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches February 29, 2024, exclusively for PS5.
