As players explore the Sector 7 slums in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, they can pick up a side quest called Just Flew in From the Graveyard from an NPC named Gwen. Before you can start this quest in Final Fantasy 7 Remake though, you will first need to complete the 'Nuisance In The Factory' side quest from the Junk Dealer.

You'll be able to find Gwen standing outside near the entrance to the factory area by two guards and a locked gate. She will basically send you back into the Abandoned Talagger Factory area to open a locked door to defeat a monster called Cerulean Drake. However, some players might get tripped up because they'll need to find a Watch Security Key near the gate, but the game won't tell you exactly where it is.

Updated on January 8, 2026: With FF7 Remake Intergrade launching on Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 this month, we've updated this guide with images and clearer instructions on completing the 'Just Flew in From the Graveyard' Side Quest.

How to Find the Key During the 'Just Flew In From the Graveyard' Side Quest in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

To find the watch security key for Final Fantasy 7 Remake's Just Flew in From the Graveyard quest, players should begin by entering the Abandoned Talagger Factory area, which is located through a gate very near to Gwen. Players should then proceed through this area until they reach a building that contains a number of Gorgers. After defeating these foes, fans should exit out of the doorway that they did not enter through and take the first left that they can.

This will lead players to another room containing a group of Gorgers and a set of stairs. At the far end of this room is a switch, which FF7 Remake fans should interact with in order to open another doorway. There are three crates located on the left side immediately outside this new doorway, and players should destroy those crates to obtain Final Fantasy 7 Remake's watch security key.

Here's a picture of the locked door location and where to find the crates with the key:

With the watch security key in hand, players can continue through FF7 Remake's Just Flew in From the Graveyard quest by going back into the room with the stairs and passing through the doorway at the top of them.

Following this path will eventually lead fans to a room with more Gorgers and a panel that is unlocked with the security watch key, and the Cerulean Drake awaits Cloud and Tifa just on the other side.

The Cerulean Drake shouldn't pose too much of an issue for the duo, but to make quick work of it, make sure to equip Wind Materia to Tifa or Cloud. You can get this Materia by completing the second Battle Intel Report from Chadley back in town, but otherwise, other magic spells that can go the distance should do the trick just fine, since it has no resistances. As soon as you beat the monster, you can immediately return to Gwen to save some travel time.

Once you get back to Gwen, she will reward you with a new accessory: the Star Bracelet. While it has pretty low defense and magic defense, it can hold up to two slots for Materia.

The award-winning FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE* retells the original story up to the escape from Midgar, with breathtaking visuals, fast-paced gameplay, and additional story elements.

This RPG delivers unforgettable characters, a powerful narrative, and a hybrid battle system that blends real-time action with strategic, command-based combat.

It also includes FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, a side story starring Yuffie Kisaragi that offers a fresh perspective running in parallel to Cloud’s journey.

STORY
Mako, the lifeblood of the planet, is also a highly valuable energy source. The Shinra Electric Power Company exploits this essence, draining and refining it to fuel their reactors, and in doing so, has all but seized control of the world.

But resistance rises. A ragtag group of idealists, known as Avalanche, is determined to protect the planet. In the city of Midgar, Cloud Strife, ex-SOLDIER turned mercenary, joins Avalanche on their mission to blow up Reactor 1.

As the echo of the blast ripples through Sector 8, the city is set ablaze. In the flames, a fallen nemesis from Cloud's past appears, challenging his memories and his identity. Once more begins a story that will shape the destiny of the entire world.

*This game is a partial remake of FINAL FANTASY VII, first released in 1997. It is the first title in a multi-part series based on the original game. It reimagines the Midgar portion of the story with expanded scenes, new characters, and additional narrative layers.
