Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will soon become permanently cheaper on PS5 and PC, as Square Enix announced a price cut that will take effect later in February. Currently, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PS5 and PC is priced at $70, meaning first-time players should hold off just a little longer before buying any new copies of the game.
The discount was announced shortly after Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth would be ported to the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was revealed during the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. The Xbox Series X/S port was confirmed immediately following the broadcast. The upcoming ports will go on sale starting Wednesday, June 3. Pre-orders for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S are now available through different storefronts. Customers will get some special in-game items, including the Posh Chocobo Summoning Materia, with their purchase.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Will Be Permanently Cheaper Starting February 9
Although the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth received plenty of awards in 2024, the critically-acclaimed RPG will soon see a noticeable price drop. Square Enix confirmed in a February 5 blog post that the standard edition Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PS5 and PC will be permanently marked down to $49.99 starting Monday, February 9. The new MSRP will match the prices of the upcoming Switch 2 and Xbox versions. Along with the standard edition discount, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Digital Deluxe Edition will be marked down to $69.99 (currently $89.99). Plus, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Rebirth Digital Twin Pack, which includes both available entries in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga, will also be permanently discounted to $79.99.
Considering that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is separately available for $39.99 on all platforms, the upcoming discount on the Digital Twin Pack will save new players $10 once Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is permanently marked down. Finally, the Deluxe Edition of the FF7 Remake and Rebirth Digital Twin Pack will be dropped down to $99.99. The PS5 and PC ports of FF7 Rebirth will also benefit from a feature that the Switch 2 and Xbox versions will have out of the box, as Streamlined Progression will be introduced to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth later this year.
Streamlined Progression will grant players the option to enable up to 13 different cheats to make playing the game significantly easier. Some of these cheats will grant players the maximum amount of Gil and healing items, while others will allow each attack to deal 9,999 damage per hit to any enemy. The PS5 and PC versions of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will receive Streamlined Progression via a patch that should go live by the time the Switch 2 and Xbox ports hit store shelves on June 3.

Given the upcoming discount, fans looking to dive into Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth should wait until February 9 to save $20 on one of the most feature-rich RPGs of the current video game generation. With features like Chocobo racing, the Protorelic side missions, and a main story that deviates from the original Final Fantasy 7 in different ways, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will take anywhere from 50 to 100 hours to beat. Ergo, the new $50 price tag will make Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth one of the top "bang for your buck" games on all platforms.
The discount on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will come at a good time for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga. With rumors about Final Fantasy 7 Remake's third chapter making the rounds on social media, speculation and excitement around the Final Fantasy franchise continue to build. It remains to be seen when Square Enix will share more information about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's anticipated sequel.
