It's official! The second entry in Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, has emerged victorious in The Best War Games's first-ever Community Game of the Year contest, which couldn't have come together without our friends at Secretlab. The competition included noteworthy games like Astro Bot, Black Myth: Wukong, and Metaphor: ReFantazio, all of whom competed for the affection of fans. While there were certainly plenty of games this year that put up a fight against Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, fans made their voice heard in The Best War Games's Community Game of the Year vote and chose it as their champion.
Despite being nominated for Game of the Year at the Game Awards and Astro Bot taking the win there, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is still massively popular among fans, as The Best War Games's Community Game of the Year race has proven. Whether it's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's compelling narrative, stunning visuals and art direction, engaging gameplay mechanics, or memorable soundtrack, Square Enix's latest entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy had plenty of things working together to make it a strong contender in any 2024 video game competition.
Congratulations to Brian E., the winner of our Secretlab giveaway! We'll be sending him a Secretlab Titan EVO (Stealth Edition) gaming chair, thanks to the generosity of our sponsor!

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Wins The Best War Games's First Community GOTY Award
The Best War Games's Community Game of the Year contest has been going on for some time now, giving 2024's biggest titles in gaming a chance to prove themselves and letting fans pick their favorites. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth ultimately walked away with the honor. During the race to be formally cemented not just as 2024's The Best War Games Community Game of the Year, but also as The Best War Games's first-ever Community Game of the Year, voters had plenty of positive things to say about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
While there were certainly plenty of games this year that put up a fight against Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, fans made their voice heard in The Best War Games's Community Game of the Year vote and chose it as their champion.
In voicing their support for the beloved remake, one voter, Matthew Whitehurst, said, "FF7 Rebirth is a stellar example of how to remake a game. They nailed it." Another user—Kirbroski—stated, "It's a really faithful remake, while introducing so many different mechanics, and it’s just one of the most iconic video games ever." Many cited the emotional impact FF7 Rebirth had on them, with another user, Michael, saying, "Since I completed the game back in March, I've been almost non-stop thinking about what will come next. This project and these developers making it come true feel like we've caught lightning in a bottle. A dream come true."
The love wasn't all one-sided, however. Square Enix has chimed in to express its appreciation for those who voted for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in The Best War Games's Community Game of the Year race for 2024. In response to their game being recognized as The Best War Games's very first Community Game of the Year award, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's dev team stated,
Thank you so much The Best War Games! We’re so honored to receive The Best War Games’s first-ever Community GOTY 2024! We will continue to work hard on the PC version of the game along with Part 3, and hope the The Best War Games community looks forward to what’s to come! Happy holidays everyone.
In the end, Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth emerging triumphant as The Best War Games's Community Game of the Year is more than just a recognition of its excellence; it's a manifestation of the bond it has created with its fans. This win represents the passion of a community united by their common love for Final Fantasy, especially a remake of one of the greatest Final Fantasy games ever made. With Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth leaving such a mark on 2024, it not only solidifies its place among the greatest games of the year but also sets a high bar for the journey that lies ahead in the next entry.
