Cloud and his companions are back on their adventures from where Final Fantasy 7 Remake left off. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth finally allows players to explore iconic locations like the Gold Saucer, Gongaga, the Forgotten Capital, and more. There are plenty of surprises for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players to discover, from how simple story beats in the original game now have whole sections, to how players can replay almost any cutscene in any outfit they choose once the main story is completed. Suffice to say, FF7 Rebirth is already one of the biggest games released in 2024.
Rounding out Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's party is a colorful character known as Cait Sith, a fortune teller who attacks with a microphone, riding on top of a cartoonishly fat Moogle. He most certainly stands out in the group of mercenaries and ninjas, but just like Red XIII, he not only fits in, but has his own story to tell; what's more, his tale arguably serves as the backbone of FF7 Rebirth's party at large.
How Cait Sith is One of the Key Pieces to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Party
Cait Sith is Comic Relief With a Purpose in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Story Adjustments
Once fans reach the Gold Saucer, they'll meet Cait Sith, an employee at the saucer with interesting connections to the Shinra Electric Power Company. He doesn't join the party officially for some time, but he serves as a chirpy yet quirky Scottish-accented guide to the team, letting Cloud know when something suspicious is happening at the saucer, and helping clear Barret's name when Dyne coincidentally gets him into trouble.
From the beginning of FF7 Rebirth to the very end, Cait Sith is there to bring smiles and lift the team up, and the game shows this fact with flying colors.
Cait Sith has been a fan-favorite character for decades, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth may make this attachment to the character even stronger with his bubbly and expressive animations in the Remake trilogy. From his fortunes that foreshadow important plot elements, to the secrets behind his character, he's both fun and important, which is necessary for the point of the story at large. In the end, there's a reason behind his desperation to join the party beyond just wanting to help them out like he claims.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sees Cait Sith's Story Arc Through to the End
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth leaves it rather vague, but Cait Sith is being controlled by Reeve Tuesi, the director of Shinra's Urban Development division. This is why he's able to cancel the reservations held by Director Palmer among other things. There may be some genuine merit behind why he joins the team at the Gold Saucer, but he still monitored things for Shinra one way or another to eventually turn on them for their safety.
Many people playing Rebirth are already aware of this plot twist, so the newer version of the story aims to make this switch prominent for players, and it very much succeeds. Once the bubbly and outgoing navigator of the party leaves, things feel much more quiet in the party. Cait Sith is only missing from the party for one chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's story, but it's certainly felt against the dynamic penultimate moments of the game at large.
Even when Cait Sith returns, it's just as serious as everything else that's happening. Despite his initial betrayal, he makes his loyalty clear to the team by sacrificing one of his robot bodies to make sure everyone escapes the Temple of the Ancients safely. From the beginning of FF7 Rebirth to the very end, Cait Sith is there to bring smiles and lift the team up, and the game shows this fact with flying colors.
