How to Unlock Materia Enhancement and Summons

How to Unlock Growth and Chocobo Ranch
While raising character levels can only be done through playing through stages, each playable character has a crystarium that can be expanded upon. Players can add nodes to each character, which all contain minor stat boosts, and increase the effectiveness of limit breaks too. Each upgrade takes Power, Magic, and Healing Pieces, and the major nodes also take character Memory Pieces. The Summons area focuses on a similar system but using Summon Pieces earned in special stages.
Summons can be substituted in for a character's Limit Break, lending them an elemental attack that can turn the tables. Chocobo Ranch is a fun area where players can send up to three characters on expeditions, granted they have the correct type of chocobo for the job, and return with growth materials, gil, Chocobo Medals, and experience for the character.

Most of the Exchange section will come unlocked at the start of the game, but two sections remain unopened: Medal Exchange and Chocobo Exchange. The former is tied to the Co-op mode, where players can run through waves of enemies with two other players from around the world, earning spoils including Co-op medals.
