Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Where To Get First Strike Materia

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has many Materia hidden behind Charley's bonus content that is unlocked by completing the World Intel in each region. While many Materia have an indefinite amount within the game, others such as the First Strike Materia have a very limited number.

There are only two First Strike Materia to find and use in the game, with no way of getting more beyond that. While there is the limitation of just two, Materia is easily switched between characters letting them both be utilized in any active party should players want.

Where To Get The First Strike Materia

Players can get one First Strike Materia very early in the game during Chapter 2 once they can begin free-roaming the Grasslands and completing World Intel. To unlock the Combat Challenges, players will need to defeat a Venorat and Enmidunk at Fiend Intel 1: Voracious and Venomous and Fiend Intel 2: Bearer Of Grudges respectively.

After completing these Intel battles, head to Chadley and compete in Grasslands Battle Intel: Horror On The Range, with the reward being a First Strike Materia. This Combat Challenge has three rounds:

Round 1

Toxirat x 2

Elphadunk x 2

Round 2

Orc x 3

Round 3

Venorat x 2

Enmidunk x 2

Where To Get The Second First Strike Materia

The second and final Strike First Materia can be obtained during Chapter 10 upon reaching Cosmo Canyon. This Materia is also obtained by completing a combat challenge with players first needing to defeat a Drohdroh and Bashfulisk at Fiend Intel 2: Fury Takes Flight and Fiend Intel 5: The Shapeless Assassin respectively. After defeating these enemies head to Chadley to begin the Cosmo Battle Intel: Flower Of Destruction Combat Challenge. There will be three rounds of this challenge:

Round 1

Skeeskee x 2

Basilisk x 2

Round 2

Gigant Bomb x 1

Round 3

Drohdroh x 2

Bashfilisk x 2

How To Use The First Strike Materia

The First Strike Materia gives a boost in ATB for whoever has it equipped at the start of battle. The amount of ATB given is determined by the Materia's level, with level 3 giving a character a full bar of ATB right at the start of a battle. Once the battle has begun and that ATB is used, it won't have another use for the rest of battle making it most useful in open-world battles as players will go through them much quicker compared to boss battles where an additional spell may be more useful.
